Bruins Defeat Utes in Utah, 198.025-197.625

Salt Lake City, Utah – No. 2 UCLA led from start to finish, defeating No. 4 Utah 198.025-197.625 in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,558 at Utah's Huntsman Center on Saturday. The Bruins improved their record to 10-0 on the year and increased their win streak to 16 meets and 38 opponents.
UCLA junior Kyla Ross scored a perfect 10 for the fourth consecutive meet, hitting her third perfect 10 of the season on uneven bars in the first rotation. Ross also won the all-around with a 39.775, remaining undefeated in all-around competition this season.

The Bruins led off with a 49.550 on uneven bars to take an early one-tenth lead over Utah, who scored 49.450 on vault. Margzetta Frazier started things out with a 9.875, sticking her dismount with flair. Felicia Hano added a 9.8, and Macy Toronjo, in her collegiate debut on bars, hit for a 9.8. The Bruins' back half of the lineup went lights out, each scoring 9.925 or higher. Norah Flatley earned a 9.925, Madison Kocian scored 9.95, and Ross recorded her fifth overall perfect 10 this year.
The Bruins moved to vault in the second rotation and tied their season high with a 49.425. Hano led the charge with a stuck Yurchenko 1.5 vault that tied her career-high of 9.95. Ross scored 9.925 with her Yurchenko 1.5, and Sekai Wright, Nia Dennis and Pauline Tratz each scored 9.85. The score kept the Bruins ahead of Utah, who scored 49.400 on bars.
Leading 98.975-98.850 at the halfway point, UCLA moved to floor exercise and earned four scores of 9.9 or higher for a team total of 49.500. Katelyn Ohashi led the Bruins with a 9.925, and Gracie Kramer, Ross and Hano each added 9.9. Tratz's 9.875 and Frazier's 9.85 rounded out the scoring for the Bruins. Utah, meanwhile hit for a 49.375 on beam, and the Bruins finished the rotation with a 148.475-148.225 lead.
The Bruins started out red-hot on beam, with Grace Glenn leading off with a 9.875 and Brielle Nguyen tying her career-high with a 9.9. A fall in the three spot from Kocian put the pressure on, but Flatley delivered with a 9.9. Ross followed with a 9.95, and Ohashi sealed the win with a 9.925.
UCLA will next face No. 1 Oklahoma on the road on Sunday, Mar. 3. The meet will be televised live on ESPN at 10am PT.
