
Bruins Place Third at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The Bruins recorded their best team finish of the season at the Southwestern Invitational, placing third at the North Ranch Country Club. UCLA shot a 3-over 291 on Tuesday, finishing at 1-over 865 for the tournament.
Freshman Sean Maruyama was the top Bruin, tying for fourth (-3, 213). He shot a 3-over 75 on Tuesday on two birdies on the sixth and 17th and five bogeys. Sophomore Devon Bling tied for 10th (E, 216), posting a 1-over 73 in his final round. He made three birdies (No. 4, 9 and 12), two bogeys and a double. Senior Cole Madey and sophomore Eddy Lai both tied for 15th (+2, 218). Madey was the lone Bruin under par on Tuesday, shooting a 1-under 71 on four birdies (No. 6, 7, 12 and 15) and three bogeys. Lai shot an even-par 72, making four birdies on No. 8, 9, 12 and 15 and four bogeys. Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara tied for 38th (+9, 225), scoring a 4-over 76 on three birdies (No. 6, 8 and 15), three bogeys and two doubles.
Next up for the Bruins is the Southern Highlands Collegiate (March 3-5) at the Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
