Garcia Selected UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of Week

Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia of the UCLA softball team has been named the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Mar. 4-10.

In about a 24-hour span on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, Garcia threw 16 2/3 innings and struck out 30, allowing only two earned runs, 10 hits and one walk in picking up three Bruin victories. On Saturday, she pitched 11 2/3 innings and 199 pitches, striking out 23 in two wins over BYU and Liberty. For good measure, Garcia recorded the walk-off, RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Bruins to a win against Liberty. On Sunday, the redshirt junior entered in relief against at Long Beach State, fanning seven in five innings of two-hit shutout ball.

This is Garcia's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week award this season and third of her career.
