Gymnastics to Compete at NCAA Ann Arbor Regional

The second-ranked UCLA Gymnastics team will begin its NCAA title defense Apr. 4-6 at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional. Joining the Bruins in the Regional at the Crisler Center will be No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Alabama, No. 15 Nebraska, Penn State, Ohio State, West Virginia, Illinois and Central Michigan.

The regional competition begins with a first-round matchup on Apr. 4 between Illinois and Central Michigan at 3 p.m. ET. The winner will advance to the second regional semifinal on Apr. 5 at 7 p.m. ET against UCLA, Nebraska and West Virginia. The first semifinal will take place at 2 p.m. and will feature host Michigan, Alabama, Penn State and Ohio State. The top two teams from each of the two semifinals will advance to the regional final on Saturday, Apr. 6 at 7 p.m.

The top two teams and the top all-around competitor (who is not on an advancing team) from each regional receive an automatic berth to the national championships, which take place April 19-20 in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, the top event specialist in each event (not on an advancing team or an all-arounder) advances to the national championship (in that event only).

UCLA will begin the regional semifinals on vault and will follow Olympic order.

The Bruins have won a total of 23 NCAA Regional titles and enter this year's regional with a NQS of 198.010 (second-highest in school history) and a season average of 197.781.

The four regional fields and sites are as follows:

Ann Arbor Regional (at Michigan)
Semifinal 1: No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Alabama, Penn State, Ohio State
Semifinal 2: No. 2 UCLA, No. 15 Nebraska, West Virginia, Illinois/Central Michigan

Athens Regional (at Georgia):
Semifinal 1: No. 8 Georgia, No. 9 Kentucky, Missouri, Iowa State
Semifinal 2: No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 16 California, Maryland, NC State/New Hampshire

Baton Rouge Regional (at LSU):
Semifinal 1: No. 6 Utah, No. 11 Minnesota, BYU, Arkansas
Semifinal 2: No. 3 LSU, No. 14 Auburn, Arizona State, George Washington/Lindenwood

Corvallis Regional (at Oregon State):
Semifinal 1: No. 5 Denver, No. 12 Boise State, Washington, Southern Utah
Semifinal 2: No. 4 Florida, No. 13 Oregon State, Stanford, Iowa/Arizona
