No. 11 Women's Tennis Blanks UCSB

LOS ANGELES โ The No. 11 UCLA women's tennis team controlled its Wednesday afternoon match from start to finish, defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-0 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The Bruins (11-3) recorded a pair of dominating results in doubles action before Alaina Miller, Taylor Johnson and Jada Hart completed the sweep in singles play. Hart clinched the match with a top-court triumph, her sixth victory in seven matches. The Gauchos dropped to 7-6 with the loss.
The pair of Miller and Abi Altick picked up a break of serve at 2-1 against UCSB's Amit Lev Ari and Lise Sentenac on Court 3 and never looked back, cruising to a 6-1 victory. The 45th-ranked Bruins took the final five games for its seventh win in nine tries as a combination.
The 11th-ranked UCLA duo of Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield did not miss a beat after playing apart in each of the previous two matches, taking the first four games from Anastasia Goncharova and Juliana Valero on the top court. The Bruins would go on to another 6-1 win for the first point of the day. Andrews-Broomfield has now clinched two doubles points this season.
Four first sets went the way of the Bruins, with Johnson and Miller each posting a 6-1 showing.
Miller was first off the singles courts, defeating Juliana Valero by a 6-1, 6-3 score on Court 4. Valero struck early in each set, but Miller twice overpowered her Gaucho counterpart. The Saratoga, Calif. native has now racked up a team-high nine dual-match victories.
It was a near-mirror-image performance on the next court over, where Taylor Johnson posted an identical 6-1, 6-3 result. In beating Sentenac, Johnson improved to 5-2 in matches played on Court 5 and pushed her win total to 10.
Hart would seal the deal shortly thereafter, dispatching of Elizaveta Volodko by a 6-2, 6-2 score. Hart has dropped just one set in herย six victories, all of which have come since Feb. 24. The win marked the redshirt junior's first clincher of the season.
The Bruins will be back at it Friday, when they welcome seventh-ranked Stanford to LATC. Pac-12 Networks will provide live television coverage of the conference match, beginning at 1:30 p.m. California will check in Saturday at 12 p.m. to wrap up the week.
