Bruins Wrap Up Second Round at Southern Highlands

LAS VEGAS - The Bruins were 16 shots better from their first round to their second round, posting a 1-over 289 on Monday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate. After 36 holes, UCLA is in 13th place at 18-over 594 at the Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Four Bruins, senior Cole Madey, junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara, sophomore Devon Bling and freshman Sean Maruyama are all tied for 49th (+5, 149). Bling posted a 1-under 71 on Monday, seven shots better than Sunday. He made four birdies on No. 11, 13, 14 and 5 and three bogeys. Madey and Maruyama both shot even-par 72s, five strokes better than Sunday. Madey had an eagle on the par-5 9th, two birdies (No. 18 and 3), two bogeys and a double, while Maruyama notched three birdies on No. 13, 1 and 3, one bogey and one double. Yoshihara tallied a 2-over 74, making three birdies on No. 18, 7 and 9, two bogeys and a triple. Sophomore Eddy Lai is tied for 63rd (+7, 151), shooting a 3-over 75 on Monday on two birdies (No. 13 and 1), two bogeys and a triple.
The Bruins' final round will begin at 9:28 a.m. off the 10th tee in the order of Lai, Yoshihara, Madey, Bling and Maruyama.
