Ross, Ohashi Make Pac-12 History with Latest Awards

UCLA's Kyla Ross and Katelyn Ohashi have made their way into the Pac-12 record books after their latest weekly conference honors. Ross received her record-breaking fifth consecutive Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week award, and Ohashi tied the Pac-12 records for single-season (five) and career (nine) Specialist of the Week awards.
Ross tied her career-high and national season-high all-around score of 39.850 on Sunday to remain undefeated in all-around action with eight victories. Ross scored two perfect 10s on her first two events, earning her fourth 10 of the season on uneven bars and her third on vault. She was a hair shy of recording her first-ever perfect 10 on floor exercise, receiving a career-high 9.975, and she finished with a 9.875 on beam. Ross has scored at least one perfect 10 in five consecutive meets and leads the nation with seven perfect 10s this season. She has as many 10s as all other schools have combined. Her 12 career perfect 10s rank third all-time at UCLA, and her seven career 10s on uneven bars ties Jamie Dantzscher's school record.
Ohashi earned her fourth perfect 10 of the season on floor exercise to capture her eighth floor victory in as many meets. She also posted UCLA's top score on balance beam with a 9.950, placing second. Ohashi ranks No. 1 in the nation on floor exercise with a national qualifying score of 9.985 and tied for first on balance beam with a 9.955. She has scored 9.925 or higher on floor in 19 straight meets.
Joining the two Bruins in winning a Pac-12 weekly awards is Freshman of the Week Milan Clausi of California.
No. 2 UCLA will host No. 24 Stanford on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom before closing out the regular season against Utah State on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in the final regular season meet in Pauley Pavilion for UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field and the Bruin seniors.
