NORMAN, Okla. - UCLA assistant men's golf coach Andrew Larkin has been named one of six finalists for the 2019 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Thursday.
The Strickland Award is presented to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA or NJCAA assistant coach that, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom. The other five finalists are Zach Barlow (Illinois), Matt Clark (North Carolina), Debbie Dove (Keiser), Armen Kirakossian (Arizona State) and Chris Wilson (Kansas).
Larkin is in his fourth season at UCLA. In his three-plus seasons in Westwood, the Bruins have recorded a total of 23 Top 4 team finishes, including three victories. Eight players have earned All-Pac-12 Conference honors in his three seasons. Last summer, Larkin was on the bag for Devon Bling's runner-up showing at the U.S. Amateur, and also caddied for him at last week's Masters.
The recipient of the Strickland Award, which has been given since 2003, will be announced on May 7.
