UCLA Wins NCAA Regional Semifinal

Ann Arbor, Mich. - UCLA placed first in the second semifinal session of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional, scoring 197.675 to advance to Saturday's Regional Final along with second-place Nebraska, who totaled 196.800.
Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year Kyla Ross continued her impressive 10.0 streak, scoring a perfect 10 on vault in the first rotation to run her streak to nine consecutive meets with at least one 10. Ross' score, along with Nia Dennis' leadoff score of 9.9 helped give UCLA an early lead with a 49.400.
The Bruins moved to uneven bars and matched their bars total with a 49.4. Ross once again led the charge, scoring a near-perfect 9.975. Madison Kocian added a 9.925, and Margzetta Frazier added a 9.875 in the leadoff spot.
Leading by five-tenths at the halfway point, the Bruins increased their lead by scoring 49.5 on beam. Switching their lineup a bit to rest a few student-athletes, Katelyn Ohashi started the lineup with a 9.950. Brielle Nguyen, in her usual two-spot, scored 9.9, followed by a 9.825 from Kocian and 9.85 from Norah Flatley. Ross added her third 9.95+ score of the day with a 9.95, and Dennis stepped in at the last minute for Grace Glenn to hit for a 9.850.
UCLA shook up its floor lineup, adding in Macy Toronjo for the first time in two seasons. After Frazier's leadoff 9.85, Toronjo scored a 9.85 of her own. Pauline Tratz and Gracie Kramer led the Bruins with first-place scores of 9.9, and Felicia Hano added a 9.875 for a team total of 49.375.
The top-seeded Bruins will compete in the Regional Final on Saturday, Apr. 6 at 7 pm ET against No. 2 seed Michigan, No. 3 seed Alabama and No. 4 seed Nebraska. The top two finishers of Saturday's competition will move on to the NCAA Championships.
