No. 8 UCLA Blanks Colorado on Senior Day
April 06, 2019 | Women's Tennis
LOS ANGELES โ The No. 8 UCLA women's tennis team celebrated its seniors prior to its Saturday Pac-12 match against Colorado, then went on to defeat the Buffaloes by a 4-0 score at Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The senior trio of Gabby Andrews, Ayan Broomfield and Alaina Miller shined in its final regular-season match at LATC. The doubles combination of Andrews-Broomfield collected the day's first win in decisive fashion, while Miller tacked on a singles win later in the day. Freshman Elysia Bolton clinched the victory on the top court. The Bruins improved to 14-5 (6-1 in conference play) with the win, while the Buffaloes dropped to 10-10 (3-4).
The Bruins rolled through doubles play with little challenge from the Buffaloes. The all-senior pairing of Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield, ranked No. 7 by the ITA, did not surrender a game to 35th-ranked Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Monica Malinen on the top court. The win improved Andrews-Broomfield's record to 17-6 and 5-3 versus ranked opponents.

No. 11 Elysia Bolton-Jada Hart also registered a convincing win, picking up an early break of serve on the way to a 6-2 victory over Megan Forster and Sara Nayar on Court 2. Bolton-Hart has now won a team-high 22 matches since the fall.
Just one first set went the way of Colorado in singles action. Bruin Taylor Johnson jumped out to a big lead on Court 6 and never looked back, dispatching of Ky Ecton by a 6-1, 6-1 score. Johnson's 11th win of the season made it 2-0.
With multiple matches nearing completion, Miller was next off. The Saratoga, Calif. native, who entered the match with 138 total singles and doubles victories, picked up another on Court 4 to keep the Bruin momentum going strong. Her 6-3, 6-1 triumph against Forster put UCLA one point away from the overall win.

Elevated to the top court for the first time since Feb. 3, No. 11 Bolton notched her fourth consecutive straight-set win. The 6-2, 6-1 result against Nayar represented the Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. native's fourth clincher of the season.
UCLA will hit the road for the balance of the regular season. Next up is a trip to the Pacific Northwest, where they will face Washington State on Friday, April 12. First serve from Hollingberry Fieldhouse is set for 1:30 p.m.
