LOS ANGELES - The second-ranked Bruins clinched a share of the Pac-12 Conference title on Friday, defeating No. 6 Arizona by a score of 5-4 at Easton Stadium. The victory also gave UCLA the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. It is the 10th Pac-10/12 title for the Bruins and first since 2009.

All three pitchers saw time in the circle, but it was sophomore Holly Azevedo (11-0) who picked up the win in relief, striking out four in four innings and giving up a run and two hits. Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia tossed 1 2/3 innings of relief and struck out two, giving up two runs and three hits, earning her third save of the season. Freshman Megan Faraimo started and fanned two in 1 1/3 innings, allowing a run, a hit and three walks.

The Bruins (46-4, 20-3 Pac-12) had eight hits from six different players, as senior Taylor Pack and sophomore Kinsley Washington each recorded two hits.

Arizona (41-12, 18-5 Pac-12) scored in the first inning on a solo home run and added two more in the third on a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the third, the Bruins added a shot of their own to get to within one. With two outs, Garcia singled to left and came home on Pack's 10th home run of the season to left to make it 3-2.

UCLA tacked on three more in the fourth. With one out, Washington singled up the middle, and another out later, sophomore Briana Perez drew a walk. Nickles then extended her hitting streak to 18 games with a single to center to score Washington and even the game at three. Redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan followed with a double to left to plate Perez and Nickles to give the Bruins a 5-3 lead.

The Wildcats scored a run in the seventh on an infield single and three hit by pitches, but Garcia closed the door to give the Bruins a share of the conference title.

UCLA looks to win the series and clinch the outright Pac-12 championship on Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks. The Bruins' seven seniors, Danae Blodgett, Paige Halstead, Taylor Pack, Zoe Shaw, Maddie Skibitzki, Brianna Tautalafua and Stevie Wisz will be honored prior to the game.
