Men's Tennis Duo Picks Up All-Academic Honors
May 14, 2019 | Men's Tennis
SAN FRANCISCO – Maxime Cressy and Connor Rapp of UCLA men's tennis received Honorable-Mention inclusion to the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, the conference announced Tuesday.
In order to be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average while participating in at least half of their team's regular-season events. They also must have at least one year in residence at their institution.
Cressy, who had a career year on the court, remained a model of consistency off the court with his third All-Academic nod. He previously earned Honorable-Mention recognition in 2017 and achieved Second-Team status in 2018. Playing exclusively on the top court this year across singles and doubles competitions, Cressy has lost just three total matches heading into next week's individual portion of the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships in Orlando, Fla.
The senior has garnered a plethora of honors from the conference in 2019, previously receiving All-Pac-12 First-Team recognition and its Doubles Team of the Year award with teammate Keegan Smith. Cressy twice earned the Pac-12 Player of the Week during the season, running his career total to five.
Rapp, meanwhile, played in a career-high 22 of the team's 25 matches. He became a consistent contributor on Court 2 in doubles play, teaming with Govind Nanda to win six matches. The pair clinched the doubles point on three occasions, including a 6-3 win against Azat Hankuliyev and Dan Little of Utah in the quarterfinal round of the Pac-12 Championships on April 25. The All-Academic honor marked a first for Rapp.
