LOS ANGELES - Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia struck out 13 in six perfect innings and combined with sophomore Holly Azevedoย on a no-hitter, as the second-seeded Bruins defeated Weber State, 6-0, on Friday at Easton Stadium.

UCLA (47-5) advances in the winner's bracket of the Los Angeles Regional, and will face Missouri on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Tigers defeated Cal State Fullerton, 7-4, in Friday's first contest. Weber State (26-20) will play the Titans in an elimination game at 5:30 p.m. All games of the Los Angeles Regional will air on the ESPN Family of Networks.

Garcia (21-1) retired all 18 batters she faced. She struck out one in the first, three in both the second and third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and the side again in the sixth. Azevedo entered in the seventh and struck out the last two of the game. The lone baserunner for the Wildcats came on a leadoff error in the top of the seventh.

It is the third no-hitter for the Bruins this season (freshman Megan Faraimo vs. Fresno State on Feb. 16 and vs. Colorado State on Feb. 24). The no-no was the 112th in UCLA history and the 16th for the Bruins in the postseason, the first since Garcia tossed one against Lehigh on May 19, 2017. UCLA has recorded a no-hitter in three of its last four Regional openers (Johanna Grauer in 2016 vs. CSU Bakersfield). It is the first combined no-hitter for the Bruins since 2003 (Keira Goerl/Michelle Turner) against Colgate and eighth all-time.

The Bruins had 12 hits from seven different players, as junior Bubba Nickles (2) and sophomore Briana Perez (3 - tied career high) combined for five hits at the top of the order, while sophomore Kinsley Washington added a personal-best three hits.

UCLA scored twice in the bottom of the first inning. Nickles didn't take long to extend her hitting streak to 20 games, leading off with a double to left. She would come home following a Perez bunt single and subsequent Weber State error to make it 1-0. Perez then stole second, moved to third on a grounder by redshirt sophomore Aaliyah Jordan and scored on a Garcia sacrifice fly to bring the lead to 2-0.

The score remained that way until the sixth when the Bruins scored four insurance runs, stringing together five consecutive hits to open the inning. Freshman Colleen Sullivan led off with a pinch-hit single up the middle, and was pinch-run for by senior Zoe Shaw, who scored on a Washington triple to center to make it 3-0. A single up the middle from freshman Kelli Godin plated Washington with the Bruins' fourth run, a Nickles double to right-center scored Godin to increase the margin to 5-0 and a Perez single up the middle brought home Nickles to make it 6-0.
