UCLA Rowing Competes at Windermere Cup in Seattle

SEATTLE – The UCLA women's rowing team competed in four races at the 33rd annual Windermere Cup on Saturday morning, facing off against No. 1-ranked Washington and the German National Team in the final race of the morning.
 
The Bruins' varsity eight crew finished fourth in the Windermere Cup Eight, crossing the finish line behind Washington's top two boats and the German National Team. UCLA posted a time of 6:24.467, behind Washington's "A" crew (6:14.379), Germany (6:19.883) and Washington's "B" crew (6:21.183).
 
In three other races earlier in the morning, the Bruins' 2V8+ crew and 3V8+ finished in second place, while the V4+ crew posted a third-place finish.
 
In the women's "Cascade Cup" eight race, UCLA's 2V8+ boat finished second to Washington's 3V8+ crew. UCLA posted a final time of 6:43.775, trailing Washington by fewer than four seconds (6:39.835). UCLA crossed the finish line ahead of Seattle Pacific (6:50.161) and Western Washington (6:53.057).
 
In the women's third varsity eight race, the Bruins' recorded a second-place finish with a time of 6:56.856. Washington's freshman "B" crew secured a first-place finish with a time of 6:47.146. The Bruins crossed the finish line ahead of Puget Sound (7:05.198) and Western Washington (7:18.048).
 
UCLA's varsity four recorded a third-place finish (7:38.499). Washington's "B" crew won the race with a final time of 7:08.121, while Washington's "A" crew posted a time of 7:19.321. The Bruins finished the V4+ race ahead of Western Washington (7:50.231).
 
UCLA will return to action against the University of Southern California on Saturday, May 11. Races in Marina del Rey next Saturday are expected to begin at 5:00 p.m. (PT).
