
Forbes, Hart Set to Get Fall Season Started

MALIBU, Calif. -- The UCLA women's tennis team will get its 2019-2020 season underway Thursday, when freshman Abbey Forbes and redshirt senior Jada Hart take part in first-round action at Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif. Play from the Malibu Racquet Club and Pepperdine's Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center will continue through Sunday.
The Oracle ITA Masters event is in its fifth year. Former UCLA standout Ena Shibahara won the singles tournament in 2016 and the mixed doubles tournament, with USC's Brandon Holt, in 2017.

Thirty-two men and 32 women will play in singles tournaments and be placed in a mixed doubles draw. The winner of each singles tournament will earn a spot in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, to be played Nov. 9-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
Live scoring will be available for all matches. Live streaming will be available for all matches played at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center and select matches played at the Malibu Racquet Club. Access to live scoring and live streaming will be available on the ITA's Event Information page. The final rounds of each tournament will be aired on ESPN3.

A Blue-Chip recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, Forbes will make her first appearance as a Bruin. Hailing from Raleigh, N.C., the freshman is coming off a big summer that included a US Open main-draw qualification by way of the 2019 USTA Billie Jean King National Championships doubles title. She also captured the doubles title at the 2019 Junior Wimbledon tournament. She was recently ranked No. 4 on Oracle/ITA's preseason freshmen/newcomers list.

Owner of 64-career singles wins and 89-career doubles victories, Hart will be making her first Oracle ITA Masters appearance. The Colton, Calif. native earned her second ITA All-America selection in May, as she posted a quarterfinal-round performance in the NCAA Championships singles tournament. Currently ranked a career-high No. 9 by Oracle/ITA for her singles prowess, Hart is also slotted at No. 4 in the doubles rankings with sophomore teammate Elysia Bolton.
