LOS ANGELES โ UCLA Beach Volleyball Headย Coach Stein Metzgerย announced today theย signing of a Grant-In-Aid by the Bruins' first-ever graduate transfer, Jacqueline Quade (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll HS).
Quade was aย seniorย at the University of Illinois in 2019 and is a two-time AVCA All-American. She was an honorable mention selection this past indoor season as Illinois fell to Utah in five sets in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with the 6-foot-2 outside hitter recording a team-high 23 kills (.298, 23K, 6E, 57TA). She was a first team honoree in 2018 after leading the Illini to the NCAA National Semifinals and was also named to the NCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team.
"We are very excited to announce Jacqueline's commitment as the program's first graduate student," Metzger said. "Jacqueline is one of the most prolific indoor attackers in the country and her block will make opponents very uncomfortable at the net. Of equal importance will be her impact on our team culture. We were very impressed with her character and work ethic and expect her to have a positive influence on our young squad."
Quade, who will be available to play for two seasons at UCLAย beginning with the 2020 campaign,ย also garnered AVCA All-Northeast Region honors in 2019ย after leading the Illini to their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. She also earned an All-Big Ten First-Team selection in her final collegiate indoor season, her second straight year to accomplish that feat.
She paced the Big Ten Conference and rankedย 32nd in the NCAA with 4.21 kills per set and totaled 497 kills on a .214 hitting percentage. She served up the fourth-most aces in the conference with 44 and ranked fifth with 0.37 aces per set, while registering a conference-leading 568.5 points on the season to rank 20th in the nation.
One of the most decorated Illini in program history, the two-time AVCA All-American and All-Big Ten first-teamer finished 2019 with the third-most digs on the team with 261 to go along with 51 blocks and 12 assists. She tallied 10 double-doubles on the year, as well as posting eight 20-kill matches. She finished her career ranked third all-time with 1,791 kills and fourth with 2,016 points and 4,722 attacks, while sitting 10th all-time with 485 sets played.
