- Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has led his club to the 2020 World Series after overcoming a 3-1 series deficit to defeat the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series. Los Angeles, the No. 1 overall seed in the National League, had previously downed the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres in the Wild Card and NLDS, respectively. The Dodgers posted an MLB-best 43-17 record during the 2020 regular season. The World Series begins on Tuesday night at 5:09 p.m. PT from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas (TV: FOX).
- Japreece Dean,ย G, Dynamo Novosibirsk (Russia) -- Japreece Dean ('20) is playing in her first professional season overseas following her senior season with the Bruins.
- Kennedy Burke, G, Dinamo Sassari (Italy) -- After a strong second-year campaign with the Indiana Fever in the "Wubble", Kennedy Burke ('19) has recently kicked off her second stint overseas. She currently plays for Dinamo Sassari in Italy.ย
- Monique Billings, F, Nadezhda Orenburg (Russia) -- Monique Billings ('18) had a breakout season in her third year with the Atlanta Dream this past season in the WNBA and now plays for Nadezhda Orenburg in Russia.ย
- Atonya Nyingifa, F, Estudiantes (Madrid) -- Atonye Nyingifa ('14) continues her longstanding professional basketball career with Estudiantes in Spain. Nyingifa wrapped up her UCLA career in 2014 and scored 1,570 points as a Bruin.ย
- Rebekah Gardner, G, Sfantu Ghorghe (Romania) -- Rebekah Gardner ('12) continues her prolific professional career overseas with a stint with Sfantu Ghorghe in Romania. Gardner is a member of UCLA's 1,000-point club with 1,101-career points as a Bruin.
- Krys Barnes, ILB, Green Bay Packers โ The undrafted rookie continued to shine, piling up a team-high 10 total tackles. His 35 combined stops lead 4-1 Green Bay.
- Jayon Brown, ILB, Tennessee Titans โ Brown also leads his team with 35 total tackles after posting a game-high 10 in undefeated Tennessee's overtime win over Houston. One of his stops went for a loss of two yards.
- Kenny Clark, NT, Green Bay Packers โ Making his first appearance since suffering a groin injury in Week 1, Clark registered four total tackles.
- Ka'imi Fairbairn, K, Houston Texans โ Fairbairn converted his 10th field goal in a row, knocking down an attempt from 38 yards just before halftime. He also made three of four extra-point tries and saw four of his seven kickoffs reach the end zone.
- Myles Jack, OLB, Jacksonville Jaguars โ Jack made his return to the lineup after suffering an ankle injury in Week 4 and responded with four total tackles, including one for a loss.
- Eric Kendricks, MLB, Minnesota Vikings โ The NFL leader in tackles saw his total rise to 67 after racking up a game-high 14. He added a QB hit.
- Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, DT, Atlanta Falcons โ Tuioti-Mariner turned in one pass defense and recovered a fumble on Atlanta's kick-return team. The Falcons earned their first win of the season.
- Kenny Young, ILB, Los Angeles Rams โ Young, who in Week 5 surpassed his 2019 mark, collected three combined tackles to run his season total to 21.
- TE Devin Asiasi (New England Patriots), CB Darnay Holmes (New York Giants), TE Marcedes Lewis (Green Bay Packers), OT Conor McDermott (New York Jets), CB Fabian Moreau (Washington Football Team), OG Alex Redmond (Cincinnati Bengals), and WR Matthew Slater (New England Patriots) also played, but did not record any statistics.
- PGA Tourย โย Patrick Cantlayย (-4) tied for 38th at The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas last week. Cantlay is in the field at this week's Zozo Championship at Sherwood (Thursday-Sunday) in nearby Thousand Oaks.
- PGA Tour Champions โย Brandt Jobeย was the top Bruin at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic last week in Richmond, Va., tying for fourth at 12-under. The Tour is off this week.
- European Tour โย Pedro Figueiredoย (-6) tied for 43rd at the Scottish Championship in St. Andrews, Scotland last week. Figueiredo is in the field at this week's Italian Open (Thursday-Sunday) in Brescia, Italy.
- LPGA Tour โ After a week off, the Tour is back in action at the LPGA Drive On Championship in Greensboro, Ga. (Thursday-Sunday). Brianna Do, Tiffany Joh, Lee Lopez, Ryann O'Toole, Louise Ridderstrom and Patty Tavatanakit are in the field.
- Frankie Amaya, MF, FC Cincinnati โ Started and played the full 90 in FC Cincinnati's 2-1 loss to DC United on Oct. 18, registering one shot attempt.ย He's made 17 appearances โ all starts โ and scored his first professional goal this year.
- Jonathan Bornstein, D, Chicago Fire โ Started and played the full 90 in Chicago's 2-2 draw with Sporting KC on Oct. 17.
- Reggie Cannon, D, Boavista FC (Portugal) โย Started at right back and played the full 90 in Boavista's Primeira Liga contest against Vitoria SC on Monday. Cannon has started all four games for Boavista since transferring from FC Dallas last month. He scored his first goal with Boavista in his club debut on Sept. 12 (exhibition vs. CD Tondela).ย
- Abu Danladi, F, Nashville SC โ Had a strong performance in Nashville's 3-1 win over Houston on Oct. 14, scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist in just 45 minutes of action. The tally gave him goals in two of his last three starts.
- Jordan Harvey, D, LAFC โ Started both of LAFC's games last week, totaling 165 minutes of action.
- Ryan Hollingshead, D, FC Dallas โ Scored the lone goal in FC Dallas's 1-0 victory over Sporting KC on Oct. 14, volleying a long cross from the right flank inside the near post for his second goal of the 2020 campaign. After recording eight shots in his first 11 appearances of the year, he has a dozen shot attempts over his last three games.ย
- Brian Rowe, GK, Orlando City SC โ Started and played the full 90 in both of Orlando City SC's games last week. He allowed one goal in each contest, both 1-1 draws. His start against NYCFC on Wednesday marked the 100th regular season start of his MLS career.ย
- Kelyn Rowe, MF, New England Revolution โ Started and played 71 minutes in New England's 3-2 win over Montreal on Oct. 14. Registered two shots.
- Jackson Yueill, MF, San Jose Earthquakes โ Started and played the full 90 in both of San Jose's games last week as the Earthquakes went 1-0-1, including a 4-0 triumph over the Galaxy.
- Abby Dahlkemper, D, Katelyn Rowland, GK, North Carolina Courage; Sydney Leroux, F, Orlando Pride (NWSL) โ North Carolina and Orlando wrapped their NWSL Fall Series with a 3-3 draw on Oct. 17. All three Bruins played the full 90 for their respective teams. Leroux took two shots in the game, including one on goal, and Rowland made one save on 11 shots faced.
- Rosie White, MF, Taylor Smith, D, OL Reign (NWSL) โ White started and played 70 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Utah in the NWSL Fall Series finale. White took four shots, one on goal. Smith did not dress.
- Samย Mewis, MF, Manchester City (England) โ Mewis played the full 90 and scored her third goal in five games in a 1-1 draw at Reading on Oct. 18. With her team trailing 1-0 after three minutes, Mewis tied the game in the 56th minute.ย
- Lauren Barnes, D, &ย Hailie Mace, F, Kristianstads DFF (Sweden) โ Mace scored two goals one minute apart in the second half to help lead Kristianstads to a 4-0 victory over Umeå IK on Oct. 19. Barnes started and played all 90 minutes, while Mace played 87.
- Siri Ervik, GK, Kolbotn (Norway) โ Ervik started in goal in a 2-2 draw with Klepp on Oct. 18.
- Darianย Jenkins, F, Bordeaux (France) โ Jenkins did not dress in Bordeaux's 3-1 loss to Issy on Oct. 17.
- Linnea Mack & Ting Wen Quah โ The Bruin duo, who both compete for the DC Trident,ย opened the second season of the International Swimming League (ISL)ย in Budapest over the weekend. The club is coached byย Cyndi Gallagher, UCLA's longtime head swim coach who retired following the 2018-19 season.ย Mack had a particularly strong showing as part of a two-day meet, winning the women's 50m backstroke with a lifetime best of 26.30 and finishing runner-up in the women's 50m backstroke skins competition. Both Mack and Quah helped DC to a runner-up finish in the 400m free relay, while Quah also swam in DC's 400m medley relay which also finished second.
- Marcos Gironย โ Giron qualified for the European Open (Antwerp, Belgium) singles main draw after defeating Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan, 7-6(1), 6-2, in a matchup of ATP top-100 players.
- Mackenzie McDonaldย โ McDonald reached the singles main draw of the American Express Istanbul Challenger (Turkey) after defeating Viktor Galovic of Croatia, 6-2, 6-4, in the final round of qualifying.
- Robin Andersonย โ Anderson suffered a three-set loss to fellow American Robin Montgomery in the singles first round at Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (France), but bounced back with partner Jessica Ponchet of France to defeat Harriet Dart/Sarah Beth Gray of Great Britain, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(8), in the doubles final round.
- Catherine Harrison โ Harrison fell to second-seeded Renata Zarazua of Mexico, 7-5, 6-1, in qualifying for the Mercer Tennis Classic (Macon, Ga.).
