UCLA Men's Golf Announces Signing Class

UCLA head men's golf coach Derek Freeman has announced the signing of Evan Chien (Irvine, Calif./University HS), Ómar Morales Nacif (Puebla, Mexico/Colegio Humboldt) and Pablo Ereño Perez (Madrid, Spain/Nuestra Senora del Recuerdo) to National Letters of Intent.
Chien won the 2018 AJGA EMoney.com/The First Tee of Great Baltimore Junior Championship, one of his nine AJGA Top 10 finishes. The 2019 Pacific Coast League Player of the Year has been named All-League twice. Off the course, he was also a member of the 2017-2018 CIF-Southern Section Academic Award team, a 2019 and 2020 AJGA Scholastic Junior All-American and the 2019 USGA/AJGA Presidents' Leadership Award team.
Nacif, a member of the Mexican National Team and the No. 1 ranked junior player in his home country in 2019, competed in the Latin America Amateur Championship early in 2020 and recently played in The Junior PLAYERS Championship for the second year in a row. In 2019, he won the Campeonato Nacional Interzonas Lorena Ochoa and finished second at the Campeonato Nacional Infantil Juvenil – Mexico, while also competing in the Toyota Junior World Cup and Rolex Tournament of Champions.
Perez won a pair of tournaments in 2019, the Campeonato Junior Y U25 de Madrid and the Copa Alianza Centro. He also was sixth at the Copa Baleares and competed in the Campeonato de Espana Amateur and R&A Boys Amateur Championship. Since resuming play following the start of the shutdown in March, he has been ninth at the Campeonato de Madrid and 14th at the Campeonato Internacional de Anadalucia.
