- Trevor Bauer, RHP, Cincinnati Reds โ A week after being voted the NL Outstanding Pitcher by his peers in the MLBPA, Bauer was named one of three finalistsย for the 2020 NL Cy Young Award on Monday. This year's Cy Young winners will be announced on Nov. 11. Bauer is vying to become the first Bruin to win a Cy Young and the third player ever to win both a Cy Young and a Golden Spikes Award (David Price, Tim Lincecum). For the 2020 season, Bauer led the National League with a 1.73 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 5.06 hits per nine innings. ย
- Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was crowned a World Series champion after the Dodgers downed the Tampa Bay Rays in six games in the 2020ย Fall Classic. Los Angeles clinched the title โ breaking a 32-year championship drought โ with a 3-1 victory last Tuesday night. Roberts is the first Bruin to win the World Series as a player or manager since Brandon Crawford in 2014 with San Francisco. In five years as manager, Roberts has steered the Dodgers to a 436-273 (.615) record, five division titles, four NLCS berths, three NL pennants, and one World Series title. ย
- Japreece Dean,ย G, Dynamo Novosibirsk (Russia) -- Japreece Dean ('20) is playing in her first professional season overseas following her senior season with the Bruins.
- Kennedy Burke, G, Dinamo Sassari (Italy) -- After a strong second-year campaign with the Indiana Fever in the "Wubble", Kennedy Burke ('19) has recently kicked off her second stint overseas. She currently plays for Dinamo Sassari in Italy.ย
- Monique Billings, F, Nadezhda Orenburg (Russia) -- Monique Billings ('18) had a breakout season in her third year with the Atlanta Dream this past season in the WNBA and now plays for Nadezhda Orenburg in Russia.ย
- Nirra Fields, G (Turkey) -- Nirra Fields ('16) continues her professional career playing overseas in Turkey.ย
- Atonya Nyingifa, F, Estudiantes (Madrid) -- Atonye Nyingifa ('14) continues her longstanding professional basketball career with Estudiantes in Spain. Nyingifa wrapped up her UCLA career in 2014 and scored 1,570 points as a Bruin.ย
- Rebekah Gardner, G, Sfantu Ghorghe (Romania) -- Rebekah Gardner ('12) continues her prolific professional career overseas with a stint with Sfantu Ghorghe in Romania. Gardner is a member of UCLA's 1,000-point club with 1,101-career points as a Bruin.
- Krys Barnes, ILB, Green Bay Packers โ Undrafted rookie starter Barnes registered four total tackles to increase his team-leading season total to 47. No other Green Bay player has more than 31 stops.
- Jayon Brown, ILB, Tennessee Titans โ Starter Brown piled up a game-high 12 total tackles to bring his team-high total to 55. He had a fourth-quarter interception nullified by a defensive pass interference penalty.
- Kenny Clark, NT, Green Bay Packers โ Starter Clark turned in his second four-tackle performance since missing three of Green Bay's first four games due to injury.
- Kai Forbath, K, Los Angeles Rams โ Making his Rams debut, Forbath converted a 23-yard field goal and missed a 48-yard attempt wide left. He also made both his extra-point tries and turned in a tackle on his one of four kickoffs that did not reach the end zone.
- Darnay Holmes, CB, New York Giants โ Rookie Holmes was a force in his return to the lineup, accounting for four total tackles and a fumble recovery deep in Tampa Bay territory. The Giants found the end zone three plays later.
- Joshua Kelley, RB, Los Angeles Chargers โ Rookie Kelley rushed seven times for 32 yards (4.6 yards per carry), including a 22-yard scamper in the first quarter. He also caught one pass for -7 yards. He leads the Chargers with 264 rushing yards on the season.
- Eric Kendricks, MLB, Minnesota Vikings โ Starter Kendricks logged his seventh double-digit tackle performance in eight games, producing a game-high 12 in Minnesota's win at first-place Green Bay. He ranks second in the league with 78 total stops.
- Matthew Slater, WR, New England Patriots โ Special teams stalwart Slater contributed to one tackle on a fourth-quarter kickoff.
- Jacob Tuioti-Mariner, DT, Atlanta Falcons โ Tuioti-Mariner posted two tackles, helping Atlanta to a win over division rival Carolina. Each of his 12 tackles on the season are of the solo variety.
- Kenny Young, ILB, Los Angeles Rams โ Young totaled four tackles and one pass defensed. His 29 stops through eight games put him on pace to set a new career high (51 in 2018).
- OTย Andre James (Las Vegas Raiders), TE Marcedes Lewis (Green Bay Packers), OT Conor McDermott (New York Jets), OT Kolton Miller (Las Vegas Raiders), C Scott Quessenberry (Los Angeles Chargers) and OG Alex Redmond (Cincinnati Bengals) also played, but did not record any statistics.
- PGA TOURย โ Kevin Chappell is in the field at this week's Vivint Houston Open (Thursday-Sunday).
- PGA Tour Champions โ Duffy Waldorf was the top Bruin finisher (-12) at last week's TimberTech Championship in Boca Raton, Fla, tying for 10th. The TOUR is in Phoenix this week (Friday-Sunday) for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Waldorf, Brandt Jobe, Scott McCarron, Steve Pate, Corey Pavin, Tom Pernice, Jr. and Ken Tanigawa are in the field.
- European Tour โ Pedro Figueiredo tied for 53rd (-6) at last week's Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Open in Paphos, Cyprus. The Tour is at the same course this week (Thursday-Sunday) for the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown.
- Symetra Tour โ Lee Lopez tied for 19th at the Carolina Golf Classic last week in Pinehurst, N.C. The Tour is in Davidson, N.C. this week (Tuesday-Friday) for the season-ending Symetra Tour Championship. Lopez is in the field.
- Frankie Amaya, MF, FC Cincinnati โ Started and played the full 90 in both of FC Cincinnati's games last week.ย He's made 20 appearances โ all starts โ and scored his first professional goal this year.
- Jonathan Bornstein, D, Chicago Fire โ Appeared in both of Chicago's games last week. Started and played 72 minutes against Philadelphia on Oct. 28 before subbing on and playing 14 minutes against Nashville SC on Halloween.
- Reggie Cannon, D, Boavista FC (Portugal) โย Started at right back and played the full 90 in Boavista's 3-0 win over previously-unbeaten Benfica on Monday. Cannon has started all six games for Boavista since transferring from FC Dallas in September. He scored his first goal with Boavista in his club debut on Sept. 12 (exhibition vs. CD Tondela).ย
- Abu Danladi, F, Nashville SC โ Subbed on in both of Nashville's games last week, helping his club earn points in both contests.
- Ryan Hollingshead, D, FC Dallas โ Started and played the full 90 in both of FC Dallas's games last week, helping his club to a pair of wins. Scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute against Inter Miami on Oct. 28, finishing off a cross from the right at the far post for his third goal of the year.
- Andy Rose, MF, Vancouver Whitecaps โ Started and played 58 minutes against Seattle on Oct. 27.
- Kelyn Rowe, MF, New England Revolution โ Started and played 63 minutes against the New York Red Bulls on Oct. 28.
- Jackson Yueill, MF, San Jose Earthquakes โ Started and played the full 90 in San Jose's 2-0 triumph over Real Salt Lake on Oct. 28. ย
- Samย Mewis, MF, Manchester City (England) โ Mewis scored the opening goal in the 39th minute as Manchester City captured its third Women's FA Cup Final on Nov. 1 with a 3-1 win over Everton. Mewis became the second U.S. Women's National Team player and third U.S. international ever to score in an FA Cup Final, joining Carli Lloyd (2017) and Christian Pulisic (2020). The goal was Mewis' fourth for ManCity this year.ย
- Lauren Barnes, D, &ย Hailie Mace, F, Kristianstads DFF (Sweden) โ Mace scored her third goal in the last two games, scoring in the 46th minute to help lead her squad to a 4-0 victory over Vittsjö GIK on Nov. 1. Mace played 62 minutes, and Barnes played the full 90 in Kristianstads' second-straight shutout.
- Siri Ervik, GK, Kolbotn (Norway) โ Ervik started in goal in a 1-0 loss to Sandviken on Oct. 31.
- Darianย Jenkins, F, Bordeaux (France) โ Jenkins did not play in Bordeaux's 5-1 win over Dijon FCO on Oct. 31.
- Anika Rodriguez, MF, PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) โ Rodriguez did not play in PSV's 6-0 win over Excelsior/Barendrecht on Nov. 1.
- Linnea Mack & Ting Wen Quah,ย DC Tridentย โ The Bruin duo competed in Match 5 of the 2020 ISL season for the DC Trident over the weekend. Both former UCLA swimmers had strong individual results in the two-day quad meet, as Mack placed second in the 50 back while Quah was runner-up in the 50 fly. Both also competed in relays for their club. DC Trident is coached byย Cyndi Gallagher, UCLA's longtime head swim coach who retired following the 2018-19 season.
- Maxime Cressyย โ Eighth-seeded Cressy advanced to the singles second round with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Maxime Janvier of France at the Parma (Italy) stop on the ATP Challenger Tour.
- Marcos Gironย โ Giron is still alive at the Rolex Paris Masters, where he will face off against seventh-seeded Matteo Berrettini of Italy in the second round of main-draw action Tuesday. Giron advanced through qualifying with straight-set wins over Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain, 6-4, 6-1, and 54th-ranked Laslo Djere of Serbia, 7-6(5), 7-6(3), before knocking off No. 46 Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, in first-round play Monday.
- Mackenzie McDonaldย โ McDonald had an impressive showing at the Astana Open (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan), defeating sixth-seeded Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, 6-3, 6-2, and Andreas Seppi of Italy, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, en route to the singles quarterfinal round. McDonald's run was ended by No. 3 seed and eventual finalist Adrian Mannarino of France.
- Robin Andersonย โ Anderson dropped a 6-1, 7-5 decision on clay to fellow American Hailey Baptiste in singles qualifying at the LTP Charleston (South Carolina) Pro Tennis tournament.
