February 13, 2020 | Gymnastics
UCLA Gymnastics has signed a second Canadian Olympic hopeful to a national letter of intent, as three-time World Championships competitor Brooklyn Moors will join the Bruins in 2021.
Moors has qualified to the all-around and floor exercise finals at three consecutive World Championships. At her first Worlds in 2017, she placed 15th in the all-around and fifth on floor and also became the first Canadian gymnast ever to win the Longines Prize for Elegance. In 2018, she helped lead Canada to all-time best fourth-place finish and placed eighth on floor. She earned a seventh-place finish on floor and was 14th in the all-around in 2019. Moors also won floor exercise gold at the 2019 Pan American Games.

At the national level, Moors won three medals at the 2019 Canadian Championships, finishing first on beam, second on floor and third in the all-around. She also won bronze on vault in 2017. Moors won the all-around and floor and placed second on beam at the 2018 Elite Canada and just last weekend won floor exercise gold and all-around, bars and beam silver at the 2020 Elite Canada.
"Brooklyn is one of the most artistic athletes in the world, performing floor with deep emotion and expression, and she also uses her explosive athleticism to perform one of the most unique and difficult skills on floor โ a double front half out," said UCLA head coach Chris Waller. "Brooklyn's friendly demeanor will make her a wonderful ambassador for UCLA while she contributes on all four events."
Moors and Ana Padurariu, who signed with UCLA in December, are among the top contenders for Canada's 2020 Olympic team.
