UCLA also went on to become the last remaining undefeated team in the nation following the victory over CU. In a return to her home state, Michaela Onyenwere led the Bruins with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Japreece Dean and Charisma Osborne each tallied 13 points. UCLA led by as many as 25 in the second half and had to fend off a fierce Colorado comeback to secure the three-point victory.
The Buffs enter the matchup at 16-11 overall, but their 5-11 record in league play puts them in ninth place in the current Pac-12 standings. CU is coming off arguably its best win of the season, taking down then-No. 11 Arizona 50-38 in Boulder. The Buffs held Arizona its lowest scoring output and worst shooting percentage (.245) of the year, albeit the Wildcats without Aari McDonald, the Pac-12's leading scorer this year. The win marked Colorado's first win over an opponent ranked in the AP Top 25 since 2016-17. The Buffs entered the matchup with Arizona coming off two-straight close losses, falling 69-66 to Stanford and 65-59 to Arizona State.
CU is led in scoring by Mya Hollingshed, a versatile 6-3 guard/forward who averages 13.5 points per game. Hollingshed has a pair of 20+ point performances to her credit this year and notched 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting in the loss to the Bruins earlier this year. Sophomore guard Emma Clarke has more than doubled her scoring output from her debut campaign and is contributing 10.7 points for the Buffs, while freshman Jaylyn Sherrod has been the primary facilitator for the offense with 10.2 points and 5.7 assists per contest.
