BANDON, Ore. - Junior Devon Bling won for the second time in his collegiate career, claiming medalist honors at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday. Bling shot an even-par 71 to finish at 5-under 208, one shot ahead of Oregon's Kevin Geniza.
Bling, who won for the first time in 2018 at the Jackrabbit Invitational, was steady the whole way on Tuesday until a bit of a hiccup at the end. Starting on the fourth hole, he made three birdies on No. 5, 11 and 12 and 14 pars in his first 17 holes before finishing with a triple bogey. However, Bling was still one clear of the field to record the victory.
As a team, the Bruins tied for seventh (+14, 866), shooting a 4-over 288 in the final round.
Sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh tied for 21st (+2, 215), shooting a 2-over 73 on Tuesday on two birdies (No. 13 and 15) and four bogeys. Junior Eddy Lai tied for 40th (+5, 218), posting an even-par 71. He made three birdies (No. 12, 15 and 2) and three bogeys. Freshman Tony Hendricks, playing as an individual, tied for 72nd (+13, 226). He made two birdies (No. 18 and 3) and five bogeys in a 3-over 74. Freshman Mason Greene tied for 80th (+15, 228), recording a 2-over 73 on two birdies on No. 16 and 3 and four bogeys. Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara missed the final two rounds due to injury.
Next up for the Bruins will be the Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 6-7) at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
