Four Bruins Earn Regular Season All-America Honors
March 24, 2020 | Gymnastics
Four UCLA gymnasts combined to earn eight regular season All-America honors in 2020.
Leading the way for the Bruins is senior Kyla Ross, who picked up honors on every event and the all-around to bring her career total to a school-record 24 All-America awards. Ross received first-team acclaim in the all-around, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise and was a second-team honoree on vault. She finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the nation on uneven bars for the fourth-straight year, a feat never before accomplished.
Receiving her second first-team All-America honor on balance beam is senior Grace Glenn, who finished the year ranked seventh in the nation. Glenn, who earned first-team honors in 2018, made history this season when she became the first gymnast ever to score a perfect 10 on beam from the leadoff position. The 2019 Pac-12 beam co-champion scored one 10 and two 9.975s in 2020.
Senior Gracie Kramer earned her third All-America nod and her first first-team regular season award after finishing the year ranked No. 3 on floor exercise. Kramer was a second-team regular season selection and a first-team postseason All-American a year ago. She averaged a team-high 9.937 on floor and recorded her first career perfect 10 on floor on Jan. 31, 2020.
Earning second-team honors, her first in the regular season, is sophomore Margzetta Frazier on the uneven bars. The 2019 postseason first-team All-American finished 2020 ranked 10th nationally and averaged 9.918 with a high of 9.95. Frazier scored 9.9 or higher on bars in every meet she competed this season.
The regular season All-Americans are awarded by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA). Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all around earned All-America honors. Second team All America honors are earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS. The NQS scores are based on meets that occurred before the season was ended because of COVID-19.
