LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Megan Faraimo struck out 11 in a complete-game, five-hit shutout, as the top-ranked Bruins scored twice in the fourth inning and it held up in a 2-0 win over No. 16 Michigan on Thursday at Easton Stadium.
The Bruins improve to 21-1 with the win, while the Wolverines fall to 14-7.
Faraimoย (12-1) posted her eighth double-figure strikeout game of the season, allowing no walks in her seven innings. She struck out the side in the fourth and seventh and two apiece in the first and third, retiring the side in order in each of the first three innings.
UCLA had just three hits, all coming in the fourth inning, including a pair with two outs. With one out, junior Briana Perez bunted for a hit and stole second. One out later, freshman Maya Brady singled through the right side to score Perez with the game's first run. Junior Delanie Wisz followed with a double off the top of the wall in center to plate Brady to make it 2-0.
The Bruins continue the UCLA/LBSU Invitational on Friday against No. 22 UCF at 5:30 p.m. The game will feature free live audio on UCLABruins.com.
