Faraimo Named Softball America Pitcher of the Year

Sophomore Megan Faraimo was named the 2020 Softball America Pitcher of the Year, as announced on Thursday.
Faraimo led the top-ranked Bruins with a 0.85 earned run average, a 13-1 record and 149 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings. She went the distance in all 10 of her starts, tossing five shutouts and limiting opponents to a .153 batting average. Faraimo had nine double-figure strikeout games, including a career-best 16 against Wisconsin. She ended the season with a streak of 25 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.
The sophomore ranked first among all pitchers in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio (29.80). She was also second in strikeouts, tied for second in wins, fourth in walks allowed per seven innings (0.39), tied for sixth in shutouts, 10th in ERA and 17th in hits allowed per seven innings (3.80).
Faraimo, who won four weekly honors during the 2020 season (three-time Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week and NFCA National Pitcher of the Week), was named a Softball America First Team All-American. Redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan was also a Softball America First Team All-American, while junior Briana Perez was named Third Team All-American.
