Eleven Rowers Recognized on Pac-12 Honor Roll
June 08, 2020 | Women's Rowing
The UCLA women's rowing program had 11 student-athletes named to the Pac-12 Conference's Spring Academic Honor Roll, as announced Monday by the conference office.
Those 11 rowers from the Bruins' program include (in alphabetical order) Bella Alvarado, Georgia Batson, Josie Beyer, Fiona Buzzard, Sarah Coufal, Irene Davila Mejia, Audrey Goodman, Lucy Holgate, Aarti Kishore Jain, Paula Jaramillo and Haley Tong.
Any student-athlete on his or her respective team roster with a cumulative GPA totaling 3.3 or higher (and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution) can receive all-academic honors. The Pac-12's Spring Academic Honor Roll included student-athletes from baseball, beach volleyball, men's and women's golf, lacrosse, rowing, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field.
The honors came one day after UCLA's year-end (virtual) scholar-athlete banquet, where senior Haley Tong and sophomore Sarah Coufal were recognized for their strong contributions. Tong, who is majoring in environmental science, was one of nine student-athletes to receive the Athletic Director's Academic Excellence Award. Coufal, who is working toward a degree in marine biology, was named to the All-Academic Team (highest cumulative GPA from the women's rowing program).
