TEMPE, Ariz. โ The UCLA men's tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic Team and seven of its student-athletes were named Scholar-Athletes, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday.
Redshirt junior Connor Rapp, junior Connor Hance, sophomores Eric Hahn, Govind Nanda, Mathew Tsolakyan and Patrick Zahraj and redshirt freshman Blaine Hovenier were tabbed Scholar-Athletes.
In order to be eligible for the team award, the ITA program must possess a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale, factoring in all varsity letter winners. Individually, Scholar-Athletes must be varsity letter winners and have a GPA of 3.50 or better for the 2019-20 academic year.
Hance, Nanda and Zahraj became back-to-back Scholar-Athletes, as the trio also qualified for the 2019 list. Hahn, Hovenier, Rapp and Tsolakyan were honored for the first time.
The academic awards mark the latest for the Bruins, as Hahn, Hance, Nanda, Tsolakyan and Zahraj were named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll last month.
Sam Feit, who joined the roster last week as a graduate transfer following four seasons at Gonzaga University, was also named a Scholar-Athlete.
