UCLA Athletics Receives Over $4.35 Million for Bruin Support Program

LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA Athletic Department announced today that the conclusion of the Bruin Support Program resulted in 890 individual gifts totaling $4,373,919 in philanthropic support. This special initiative, announced in June 2020, was designed to help maintain student-athlete support in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gifts to the Bruin Support Program were received at all financial levels, with individual donations ranging from $100 up to $1,000,000. UCLA also received a $500,000 matching gift challenge donation from a longtime supporter in Dallas, TX, which was fully realized in less than two months. Former UCLA student-athletes made notable contributions to the program, with 86 alumni contributing more than $27,000 through the Bruin Varsity Club โ including a $10,000 matching gift challenge donation from a member of UCLA's 1995 NCAA Champion Men's Basketball team. Contributions were received from supporters in 19 different states, with multiple donations of 2020 season ticket payments received from season ticket holders from each of UCLA's five sports which offer season ticket sales.
In total, donations to the Wooden Athletic Fund for the 2020-21 campaign have exceeded $11 million from more than 4,000 members directly supporting nearly 700 Bruin student-athletes from all 25 teams, both on and off the field of play.

"It has been heart-warming to see so many members of the Bruin family come through for our student-athletes, especially during this challenging year. This is a tremendous springboard into 2021 for UCLA Athletics."
The most immediate and direct way to support UCLA student-athletes continues to be through donations to the Wooden Athletic Fund. With the conclusion of the Bruin Support Program, UCLA Athletics is now looking ahead to the 2021-22 year with new and renewed Wooden Athletic Fund memberships available now for the 2021-22 competition year. Past supporters of the Wooden Athletic Fund will receive personalized information about renewing their support for the 2021-22 year via both email and US Mail in the coming weeks.
