UCLA Blanked by Washington
November 04, 2021 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – Dylan Teves scored a pair of goals to lead No. 3 Washington to a 3-0 victory over the UCLA men's soccer team on Thursday night at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.
The Bruins (8-6-1, 3-4-1) were playing their first home game in three weeks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Kirberg made a career-high 10 saves in relief, playing over 83 minutes as starter and team captain Justin Garces departed early after absorbing a tackle from a Washington attacker.
The Bruins found themselves down 1-0 at halftime due to a 22nd minute marker from Teves, but came out firing at the start of the second stanza.
Through the first 20 minutes of the second half, UCLA outshot the visitors 8-2 including a near-golaso from Tommy Silva in the 62nd minute that required a diving save from UW keeper Sam Fowler.

Kirberg doubled his previous career total for saves on Thursday night alone, making six stops in the first half and another four in the second half.
Some of his best work included a double-save on Nick Scardina in the 35th minute, and a denial of a seven-yard shot in the 50th minute (once again from Scardina).
Strong work here from @TylerKirberg to keep it a one-goal game.
