LA QUINTA, Calif. - Senior Devon Bling shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West, while freshman Ty Griggs made four birdies, as the Bruins are in 24th place (+33, 601) after two rounds at The Prestige. UCLA shot a 302 (+18) in its second round.
Bling is tied for 34th (+2, 144) after his even-par round on Tuesday, as he made a birdie on the par-3 fourth hole, one bogey and 16 pars.
Juniors Ahmed Ali and Bryan Wiyang Teoh (T-99, +11, 153) both shot 7-over 78s in their second rounds. Ali made a pair of birdies on the par-5 eighth and par-4 11th, adding seven bogeys and a double. Teoh had birdies on the par-4 second and par-5 16th holes to go with two bogeys, two doubles and a triple.
Freshman Ty Griggs (120th, +17, 159) was nine shots better from Monday to Tuesday (+4, 75), making four birdies on the par-4 fifth, 11th and 15th holes and par-5 eighth, adding three bogeys, a double and a triple. Sophomore Mason Greene (T-116, +15, 157) shot a 10-over 81, posting a pair of birdies on the par-5 12th and 16th holes, three bogeys, three doubles and a triple.
The Bruins' final round starts at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday off the 10th tee in the order of Griggs, Greene, Teoh, Ali and Bling. Live scoring will be available here.
