MEN'S BASKETBALL
- Kyle Anderson, F, Memphis Grizzlies โ Anderson averaged 16.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in four games over the past week with Memphis. He scored 20 points and had five rebounds and five assists on Wednesday, Feb. 17, as Memphis defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-113. Anderson has averaged 13.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game this season.
- Lonzo Ball, G, New Orleans Pelicans โ Ball has scored in double figures in all 12 games played with New Orleans this month. Over the past week, he averaged 17.8 points and 6.5 assists in four games. He finished with 21 points and a season-high 12 assists against Phoenix on Friday, Feb. 19. Ball has averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game this year with New Orleans.
- Aaron Holiday, G, Indiana Pacers โ Holiday averaged 9.5 points in two games played with Indiana last week. He scored 15 points and had three rebounds in an overtime victory against Washington on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Holiday has averaged 7.4 points and 1.8 assists per game this season with the Indiana Pacers.
- Zach LaVine, G, Chicago Bulls โ LaVine averaged 31.5 points and 4.8 assists in four games last week with the Chicago Bulls. He scored 38 points on Saturday in a win against Sacramento, connecting on 15 of 20 shots from the field and 3 of 6 attempts from 3-point range. LaVine was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line last week against Philadelphia. He has averaged 28.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game with Chicago this season.
- Norman Powell, G, Toronto Raptors โ Powell averaged 20.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in the past week with Toronto. He scored 31 points in a win against Minnesota last Friday, making 10 of 19 shots from the field. He was 6-for-10 from 3-point range in that victory. Powell also had 29 points last week in a victory at Milwaukee. He has averaged 17.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game this season with Toronto.
- Russell Westbrook, G, Washington Wizards โ Westbrook averaged 23.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 11.3 assists in three games with the Washington Wizards last week. He totaled 32 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists in an overtime victory against the Lakers on Monday night. Westbrook also had 27 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds last Saturday against Portland. He has averaged 19.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 9.7 assists per game this season with Washington.
- PGA TOUR โย Patrick Cantlayย (-4, 280) finished tied for 15th at the Genesis Invitational last week at the Riviera Country Club in nearby Pacific Palisades. Cantlay heads to the East Coast this week for the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession in Bradenton, Fla. Another TOUR event, the Puerto Rico Open, will take place this week in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Parker McLachlin and John Merrick are in the field. Both events run Thursday through Sunday.
- PGA TOUR Champions โ The TOUR resumes this week in Tucson, Ariz. at the Cologuard Classic (Friday-Sunday). Brandt Jobe, Scott McCarron, Steve Pate, Corey Pavin, Tom Pernice, Jr., Ken Tanigawa and Duffy Waldorf are in the field.
- Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada โ The first round of Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada qualifying school will take place this week (Tuesday-Friday) in Weston, Fla. Erik Flores, Gregor Main and Hidetoshi Yoshihara are in the field.
- LPGA TOUR โย The Tour returns in Orlando, Fla. this week (Thursday-Sunday) at the Gainbridge LPGA. Tiffany Joh, Bronte Law, Ryann O'Toole, Jane Park and Patty Tavatanakit are in the field.
- Reggie Cannon, D, Boavista FC โ Cannon started at right back and played 63 minutes as Boavista recorded a 1-0 victory over Moreirense on Friday in Primeira Liga action.
- Abby Dahlkemper has started and played the full 90 in the U.S. Women's National Team's first two games of group play in the 2021 SheBelieves Cup, helping the US to a pair of shutout victories. The USWNT concludes group play in the SheBelieves Cup with a match against Argentina on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 4:00 p.m.
- Jessie Fleming has started in an attacking midfield role in both of Canada's games in the SheBelieves Cup. Canada has split its two games so far, losing 1-0 to the U.S. on Thursday before recording a 1-0 shutout of Argentina on Sunday. Fleming assisted on the game-winning goal against Argentina, setting up Sarah Stratigakis in extra time. Fleming and Canada conclude group play at the SheBelieves Cup on Wednesday against Brazil, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
- Rachel Lowe, MF, Sydney FC (Australia) โ Lowe played 28 minutes in Sydney FC's 2-1 win over Adelaide United on Saturday. Sydney is atop the W-League table with 21 points in eight games.
- Sporting a new career-high ATP singles ranking of 156, Maxime Cressy notched a 7-6(4), 6-2 win over Jason Jung of Taiwan in first-round singles action at the Singapore Tennis Open. Next up for Cressy is a showdown with fifth-seeded Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan.
- Marcos Giron will take on Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands in first-round singles play at Open Sud de France in Montpellier, France Tuesday.
- Fresh off a trip to the singles fourth round at the Australian Open, Mackenzie McDonald climbed to No. 139 in the ATP singles rankings โ his highest position since Jan. 2020 โ and a career-best doubles listing of No. 183. Competing for the President's Cup in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan this week, he posted a 7-5, 7-5 victory over top-seeded and 94th-ranked Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan in the singles first round.
- The doubles tandem of Dennis Novikov and Strong Kirchheimer earned a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(4) victory over Corentin Denolly and Clement Tabur at the $25,000 World Tennis Tour in Naples, Fla., but fell at the hands of the third-seeded Alejandro Gomez and Junior Alexander Ore, 7-6(2), 6-4, one round later. In singles qualifying, Novikov knocked off fellow American Jordi Arconada, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(4), and will next meet Benjamin Dhoe of Belgium Tuesday.
- Jennifer Bradyย rose to a career-best No. 13 in the latest WTA singles rankings, released Monday. It also represents a new best-ever showing by a Bruin on the list. ย - An unseeded Robin Anderson advanced to the singles final round at last week's $25,000 ITF World Tennis Tour event in Orlando, Fla. Three of her four wins came in three sets, including a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 upset of fourth-seeded fellow American Usue Maltana Arconada in the second round and a 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 triumph over Claire Liu of the US in the semifinals. Anderson was ultimately felled by Katie Swan of Great Britain. Anderson and former UCLA teammate Catherine Harrison also reunited as the No. 3 seed in the doubles draw, but were edged out by Gabriela Talaba and Marcela Zacarias, 7-5, 7-6(5), in the first round. Harrison was eliminated from singles qualifying in Orlando, but is back at it in Boca Raton, Fla. She defeated Tara Moore of Great Britain, 6-3, 6-4, and will next face Amina Anshba of Russia to join Anderson in the main draw. Anderson and Harrison will also again join forces in the doubles draw, where they will get started against Beatriz Haddad Maia and Whitney Osuigwe Tuesday.
- The doubles duo of Ena Shibahara and Shuko Aoyama suffered its second loss in a row after running off 11 straight wins to start 2021. The top-seeded pair was eliminated by Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan of China, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(6), at the Adelaide International Tennis Tournament in Australia. Shibahara was elevated to a career-high No. 15 in the WTA doubles rankings Monday.
