- Free agent Trevor Bauer announced on Friday, Feb. 5 that he is joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. His contract is worth $102 million over three years, according to media reports. Bauer is the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner after leading the league in ERA (1.73) and WHIP (0.79) in 2020. He is the first Bruin ever to take home a Cy Young, and the third player ever to win both a Cy Young and college baseball's Golden Spikes Award.
- Kyle Anderson, F, Memphis Grizzlies โ Anderson has registered 11.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in Memphis' five games this month. He scored 21 points, had four rebounds and blocked two shots in a game against New Orleans last Saturday (Feb. 6). Anderson, currently in his seventh NBA season, has averaged 12.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists this season.
- Lonzo Ball, G, New Orleans Pelicans โ Ball has averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in four games with New Orleans this month. He had 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists on Saturday (Feb. 6) against Memphis. Ball totaled 20 points and nine rebounds the day prior, against Indiana (Feb. 5). He has averaged 13.4 points, 4.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game this season (19 games, 19 starts).
- Aaron Holiday, G, Indiana Pacers โ Holiday has averaged 7.3 points in four games this month with the Indiana Pacers. He finished with 11 points and two assists in a loss to Milwaukee last Wednesday (Feb. 3). Holiday has averaged 6.8 points, 2.0 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game with the Pacers in 24 contests (six starts).
- Jrue Holiday, G, Milwaukee Bucks โ Holiday has scored in double figures in all four games with Milwaukee this month. He had a 22-point game on Monday, Feb. 1, and scored 20 points on Saturday, Feb. 6, against Cleveland. He has averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in four games this month. Holiday has registered 16.4 points, 5.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game this season (23 games, 23 starts).
- Zach LaVine, G, Chicago Bulls โ LaVine continues to rank among the NBA's top 10 leaders in scoring (having averaged 27.0 points per game). He also has averaged 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, shooting 51.2% from the field and a career-best 41.0% from 3-point distance. Last week, LaVine scored at least 20 points in five games with Chicago. He registered 39 points and seven rebounds against Orlando last Saturday (Feb. 6). LaVine also had 35 points against Washington on Monday night (Feb. 8).
- Kevon Looney, F, Golden State Warriors โ Looney played in just one game last week. He has been limited due to an ankle sprain. This season, the 6-foot-9 forward/center has averaged 3.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
- Norman Powell, G, Toronto Raptors โ Powell scored at least 18 points in each of his last four games (all in the month of February). The 2015 graduate of UCLA finished with 29 points (connecting on 6 of 9 attempts from 3-point range) on Monday night (Feb. 8). He had 20 points last Saturday against Atlanta. Powell has averaged 15.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 21 games (10 starts) this season for the Toronto Raptors.
- Russell Westbrook, G, Washington Wizards โ Westbrook scored in double figures in three games for Washington last week. He has registered 14.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in three contests this month. Westbrook has averaged 19.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game this season with Washington (14 games, 14 starts).
- PGA TOUR โย Patrick Cantlay and Kevin Chappell are both in the field for this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, Calif.
- Reggie Cannon, D, Boavista FC โ Cannon started at right back and played 66 minutes in his club's 2-1 Primeira Liga loss to Gil Vicente on Friday, Feb. 5. Cannon has started all but one league game for Boavista since transferring from FC Dallas in September 2020.
- Abby Dahlkemper, D, Manchester City (England) โ Dahlkemper played the full 90 in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Feb. 7. With the win, Manchester City improved to 9-1-3 and is just two points out of first place in the WSL.
- Jessie Fleming, MF, Chelsea FC (England) โ Fleming came off the bench and played 29 minutes in a 6-0 win over West Ham United in the FA WSL Continental Cup semifinals on Feb. 3, but the Blues' record unbeaten run of 33 matches was snapped on Feb. 7 with a 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. Fleming started in that contest and played 56 minutes.ย
- Rachel Lowe, MF, Sydney FC (Australia) โ Lowe got her first start of the season for Sydney FC, playing 62 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Melbourne City on Feb. 4. In a 4-0 win over Canberra United on Feb. 7, Lowe played the final 24 minutes as Sydney improved to 6-0 on the season.ย ย
- Teagan Micah, GK, Melbourne City FC (Australia) โ Micah made four saves in a 2-0 loss to Sydney FC on Feb. 4.

- Marcos Gironย โ One day after defeating fellow American Michael Mmoh, Giron earned a spot in the Murray River Open singles third round with a 6-3, 6-4 win over 10th-seeded Adrian Mannarino of Italy. Giron fell short of another upset one round later, when No. 8 Dan Evans of Great Britain held him off in a 6-4, 7-6(4) decision.
- Mackenzie McDonaldย โ McDonald was outlasted by Alex Bolt of Australia, 6-4, 6-7(7), 7-5, in the singles second round at the Murray River Open. In doubles play, the all-American duo of McDonald and partner Tommy Paul went the distance against the Germany pair of Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen, but was edged out of a trip to the third round, 6-4, 6-7(4), 1-0(8).

- Jennifer Brady โ Seventh-seeded Brady reached the Grampians Trophy singles semifinal round with straight-set wins over Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia (6-3, 6-0), Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine (6-1, 6-4) and Barbora Krejcíková of the Czech Republic (7-6[5], 6-4) before being felled by fellow American Ann Li in a 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 1-0(6) thriller. Brady and partner Ashleigh Barty of Australia, seeded eighth, also reached the quarterfinal round of the Yarra Valley Classic after defeating Ons Jabeur and Christina McHale by a 6-2, 6-3 score. Brady/Barty was eliminated by No.-2 seed Nichole Melichar and Demi Schuurs, 7-5, 6-4.
- Ena Shibahara โ Shibahara and partner Shuko Aoyama won their fifth WTA doubles title and second in row, claiming the top spot oat the Yarra Valley Classic. The third-seeded pair out of Japan dispatched of Americans Coco Gauff and Caty McNally in a tightly-contested quarterfinal-round match, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(7), and needed to win an even closer affair in the semifinals, 6-7(5), 7-5, 1-0(11) against No. 2 Melichar/Schuurs. The final round proved easiest in terms of final result, as Shibahara/Aoyama defeated Anna Kalinskaya and Viktória Kuลพmová by a 6-3, 6-4 margin.
