Anderson Runs Top National Time, Bruins Notch 13 Wins at Bob Larsen Track Meet

LOS ANGELES โ Junior sprinter Shae Anderson etched her name in the UCLA outdoor record books on Saturday at the Bob Larsen Track Meet, headlining a home meet that saw the Bruins notch 13 event victories on the day.

Sprints
Anderson stole the show with her win in the women's 400m, clocking a blistering time of 51.84 to move into sixth place on UCLA's all-time outdoor list in the event. It's also the fastest time in the nation thus far. Freshman Kate Jendrezak also posting a strong performance, going 54.72 for second place overall. The men's 400m saw sophomore Ismail Turner gut out a time of 46.83 for the win in his season debut in the event.

Anderson continue her career day with a victory in the 200m, breezing to a lifetime-best time of 23.32 for the win. Sophomore Maddy Doane crossed in second with a time of 23.88, ducking under 24 seconds for the first time in her career. Fellow second-year Chinyere Okoro took third with a time of 24.27. The men's competition saw Cristian Moore continue his strong 2021 season, as the sophomore finished second at 21.58. Christian Grubb crossed in fifth with a time of 22.36.

Catherine Leger picked up the win in her first collegiate 100m race, clocking a time of 11.66 for the victory. Kenyla Miles followed in second and crossed at 12.26. Grubb was the lone competitor for the UCLA men, finishing fourth overall with a time of 11.03.

The UCLA women capped the day with a victory in the 4x400m relay. The quartet of Jade Hinds, Jendrezak, Dakota Stanly, and Jaylah Herron clocked a time of 3:54.05.

Jacob Wilson got the day's action started with a victory in the men's hammer throw, clearing 59.25m (194-4) for the victory. Alyssa Wilson notched the win on the women's side highlighting a strong series of throws with a best of 66.50m (281-2) for her first victory of the day. Lydia Liu threw 42.67m (140-3) for sixth place overall.

Wilson would go on to take the win in the women's shot put, posting a launch of 16.00m (52-06.00). Natalie Ramirez would take second place with a lifetime-best mark of 15.20m (49-10.50). The Bruins would also go 1-2 in the men's competition, as Wilson took the win with a lifetime-best mark of 18.45m (60-06.50) and Dayne Gordien finished second at 18.45m (60-06.50).

The Bruins notched a sweep in the women's discus, as Wilson, Ramirez, and Liu went 1-2-3. Wilson cleared 52.00m (170-7) for her third victory of the day, while Ramirez and Liu posted marks of 49.02m (160-10) and 44.02m (144-05), respectively. Kain Medrano was the Bruins' top finisher in the men's discus, going 50.11m (164-5) for fourth place overall. Gordien (49.53m, 162-6) and Gino Cruz (43.95m, 144-2) finished sixth and eighth, respectively.

Ilaria Casarotto and Lauren McFall went 1-2 in the women's javelin competition. Casarotto cleared 50.11m (164-5) while McFall notched a huge PR with a toss of 48.49m (159-1) to solidify her place as the No. 5 javelin thrower in program history. Medrano was third in the men's competition, going 55.10m (180-9).

The UCLA women posted a 1-4 sweep in the pole vault competition. Mia Cervantes notched her second victory of the season, clearing 3.75m (12-03.50) while Camryn Thomson (second) and Katerina Adamiec (third) each cleared 3.65m (11-11.75). Isabella Grant posted a mark of 3.50m (11-05.75) for fourth place overall. Tate Curran would take his second-straight win on the men's side, clearing 5.10m (16-08.75) for the win. Kyle Brown finished tied for second with a clearance of 5.00m (16-04.75).

Alex Enos was the Bruins' top finisher in the men's long jump, posting a mark of 6.92m (22-08.50). Zaylon Thomas took fourth with a jump of 6.61m (21-08.25). Hawa Kamara and Sophia Hartwell went 3-4 on the women's side, clearing 5.17m (16-11.50) and 5.03m (16-06.00), respectively.

Alexandra Chan finished third overall in the women's 100m hurdles, going 14.88 on the day. Aiden Lieb took third in the men's 110m hurdle competition with a time of 15.11.
