Bruins Pick Up Nine Event Victories Against the Trojans

LOS ANGELES โ UCLA and USC met for a dual meet Sunday at Drake Stadium, with the Bruins coming away with impressive performances and nine event victories on the day.

Throws
Alyssa Wilson was the class of the women's hammer throw competition, going 69.94m (229-05) for a meet record and the second-best collegiate mark in the nation this year. Natalie Ramirez picked up a career-best toss of 52.51m (171-03), good for fourth place on the day. Jacob Wilson finished third overall in the men's competition with a mark of 62.28m (204-4).

The Bruins notched a 1-4 sweep in the women's javelin competition. Ilaria Casarotto took home the victory on her senior day, clearing 49.86m (163-7) on her first attempt. Lauren McFall finished second, posting a mark of 48.38m (158-8) on her final throw. Isa Videler (39.00m, 127-11) and Christina Chenault (38.31m, 125-8) took third and fourth, respectively.

Jacob Wilson went on to launch a huge PR in the shot put, clearing 19.36m (63-06.25) for third place overall. Alyssa Wilson notched her second win of the day in the shot, going 17.74m (58-02.50) for the win. Ramirez was third at 14.71m (48-03.25). Chenault (12.57m, 41-03.00) andย Videler (11.48m, 37-08.00) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Ramirez was third in the competition at 49.81m (163-5), while Lydia Liu earned a fourth-place finish with a toss of 45.44m (149-1). JacobWilson was the Bruins' top finisher in the men's field, going 51.02m (167-04) for third place overall. Dayne Gordien (50.66m, 166-2) and Gino Cruz (46.69m, 153-2) took fourth and sixth, respectively.

Shae Anderson was electric in the women's 400m, clocking a lifetime-best time of 51.16 for the second-fastest collegiate time in the nation this season. Anderson is now No. 3 all-time in the event at UCLA. The men's 400m saw Ismail Turner match his season-best time at 46.83, notching third place overall. Christopher Hill (47.08) and Myles Misener-Daley (47.34) finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively.

Pole Vault
Kyle Brown earned the victory in the men's pole vault, clearing a lifetime-best height of 5.11m (16-09.25). Tate Curran finished second overall with a clearance of 4.91m (16-01.25). Mia Cervantes and Camryn Thomson each cleared personal-best marks of 4.01m (12-01.75), with Cervantes earning the victory on attempts. Katerina Adamiec (3.86m, 12-08.00) and Isabella Grant (3.71m, 12-02.00) went 3-4, respectively.

Jett Charvet was UCLA's top performer in the men's 800m, clocking a huge PR with a time of 1:50.32. Kai Wingo took fifth at 1:58.18. Kate Jendrezak flew to a PR in the women's competition, going 2:06.84 for third place overall.

Emma Tavella (4:31.71) and Alyssa Bautista (4:50.87) went 3-4, respectively. Peter Herold led the way for the Bruin men in the 1500m, taking second place overall with a time of 3:47.03. Munir Kabbara (3:47.24), Dylan Wilbur (3:47.71), Anthony Stone (3:47.98), and Darius Riley (3:49.32) went 2-6 and all cracked the 3:50.00 barrier.
