October 24, 2022 | Women's Basketball
San Francisco, Calif. – Charisma Osborne has been named to the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference office announced Monday. Freshman Kiki Rice earned preseason Honorable Mention, receiving votes from three-or-more members of the media.
Osborne led the Bruins in scoring (16.4 ppg) and ranked third in the Pac-12 for the 2021-22 season. The senior guard was named to the 2021-22 All-Pac-12 team at the conclusion of last year. Osborne ranked third in the conference in free throw percentage (.875), fourth in assists (108) and fourth in points scored (459). A two-time Pac-12 Player of the Week, Osborne scored in double figures in 25 of the 28 games she played last season with nine 20-point games and three double-doubles to her credit.
Rice earns her first nod in the conference with the honors. A point guard from Washington D.C.'s Sidwell Friends School, Rice was the first UCLA recruit to earn first-team WBCA High School All-America honors since Michaela Onyenwere in 2017. Rice averaged 15.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game while leading her team to a 30-0 record and the inaugural State Champions Invitational title. The No. 2 overall recruit in the nation, Rice became the first-ever UCLA women's basketball signee to win the Naismith Trophy High School Player of the Year award, and she followed that up by winning the Gatorade National Player of the Year.
