Bruins Prepare for UConn, Niagara at Cayman Islands Classic

GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – No. 2/2 UCLA Women's Basketball (4-0, 0-0 Pac-12) is in the Caribbean for its multi-team event this season, playing two games in the Cayman Islands this coming weekend.
The Bruins will face No. 6/7 UConn (3-1, 0-0 Big East) on Friday, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT at the John Gray Gymnasium in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. The game will be broadcast on FloHoops with Angel Gray and Kelley Deyo on the call. Dave Marcus will provide play-by-play analysis on UCLA Digital Radio.
UCLA turns around and plays Niagara University (2-2, 0-0 MAAC) on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 1:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. PT. Broadcast information for game two will be the same as Friday's matchup.

MATCHUP HISTORY: UCLA vs. UCONN
UCLA is seeking its first win against the Huskies in its eighth meeting against the east-coast powerhouse; the Bruins are 0-7 against UConn dating back to 1998. The Bruins and Huskies last met on Dec. 11, 2021, at the Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., with UConn winning 71-61.

UCLA and Niagara have never faced off - Saturday's game will be the first meeting in program history.

• Sophomore Lauren Betts recorded her third-consecutive double-double (22 PTS, 10 REB), shooting 100% from the field (9-9 FG, 4-4 FT). She became the first Bruin since Michelle Greco to score 20+ points on perfect shooting (22 PTS, 7-7 FG, 2/19/2000) and the first Pac-12 player since Nyara Sabally to have a 20 PT, 10 REB double-double without a miss.
• Graduate student Charisma Osborne lit it up in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 of her 21 points in the final frame (4-6 FG, 4-4 FT in Q4) to ward off an upset by the Tigers.
• Sophomores Kiki Rice (13 PTS) and Gabriela Jaquez (11 PTS) joined Betts and Osborne in double figures.
STAC-ING UP AGAINST THE PAC
• UCLA earned its highest ranking in program history, coming in at No. 2 on both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls to start week three. There are five Pac-12 programs in the top 10 of the respective polls (No. 3/4 Colorado, No. 4/3 Stanford, No. 8/10 USC, No. 10/8 Utah). UCLA is shooting .517 from the field and .398 from deep, both ranking second in the Conference.The team's 93.0 PPG also ranks second in the Pac-12 through the first two weeks.
• Three Bruins are in the top 10 scorers in the Pac-12 Conference through the first two weeks of play. Betts leads the way with 19.5 PPG (T-4th Pac-12); Osborne has tallied 17.3 PPG and ranks 8th in the Conference, and Jaquez (16.8 PPG) is one spot behind the graduate student in 9th.
• Betts has corralled 43 rebounds in her first four appearances with the Bruins, tying Phillipina Kyei of Oregon and Rayah Marshall of USC for the second-most in the Conference. Four Pac-12 student-athletes have grabbed 30 or more rebounds – Betts is the only player with three games played, the others have four games under their belts. The center has made 33 field goals (T-5th, Pac-12) on .786 FG% (33-42, 1st - Pac-12).
• Sophomore Kiki Rice has thrown 25 assists through her first four appearances this season. The point guard is tied for fifth-most in the Conference.
