No. 2 UCLA Falls 8-0 to California

BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 2 UCLA softball team lost to California, 8-0, in five innings at Levine-Fricke Field on Saturday. California's Kacey Zobac walked it off with a solo home run to left field.
The Bruins (24-2, 1-1 Pac-12) had four base hits and left six runners on base in the game. The Golden Bears (18-5, 1-1 Pac-12) opened the scoring in the third inning with a five spot off five hits. Megan Faraimo entered in relief for Taylor Tinsley after allowing a leadoff double to D'Asha Saiki. California strung together four straight base hits off Faraimo, the last of which was a two-run homer by Makena Smith.
The Golden Bears added two more runs in the fourth inning thanks to a Tatum Anzaldo two-run homer that snuck past the right field foul pole. In total, six of California's nine hits came for extra bases in the form of three doubles and three home runs.
UCLA threatened to score in the first and third innings but had both rallies come to an end with two double plays. The Bruins also had runners on the corners in the fifth.
Two of UCLA's hits belonged to sophomore Savannah Pola who is now hitting for a .418 batting average on the season. Rachel Cid and Kennedy Powell each recorded base hits asl well. Maya Brady walked twice in today's game.
