LOS ANGELES -- No. 1 UCLA (9-1) split a pair of duals on Sunday in the Pac-12 South Invitational at Mapes Beach. The Bruins opened with a 5-0 sweep of Utah (2-5) at 10 a.m. PT and then hit the road to No. 4 USC (6-0) and fell to the Trojans, 3-2, at 3:00 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.

In the first dual against the Utes, the Bruins went 10-0 in sets, recording their sixth 5-0 sweep of the season.

The Bruins went up 1-0 on court four as senior Rileigh Powers and graduate student Haley Hallgren, made quick work of Utah's Sydney Jacinto and Kylie Pitzak, 21-7, 21-12.

UCLA put another point on the board when graduate students Kelli Greene-Agnew and Abby Van Winkle defeated the Utes' Grace Andrews and Marissa Koch, 21-10, 21-13.

Graduate students Jaden Whitmarsh and Marlie Monserez teamed up to clinch the dual on court five with an easy 21-7, 21-14 win over Savannah Cottam and Sonja Wessel.

Senior Lexy Denaburg and freshman Maggie Boyd took down Utah's Chloe Narancich and Katie McAlister, 21-7, 21-13 on court one to put UCLA up 4-0.

Junior Tessa Van Winkle and sophomore Sophie Moore completed the 5-0 sweep on court three, defeating Utah's Bella Vezzani and Abby Karich, 21-16, 21-7.

In the second dual at USC, the Bruins opened with a 2-0 lead in the first wave that included a huge win on court two where senior Devon Newberry got injured. She was forced to play the remainder of the match. Newberry and Boyd took down the Trojans' Madison White and Madison Shields, 21-16, 21-19, to put UCLA up 1-0.

Powers and Hallgren made it 2-0 UCLA with a 21-18, 15-21, 15-13 win on court four over USC's Olivia Bakos and Bailey Showalter.

Denaburg and Abby Van Winkle battle hard, but lost two close sets (21-23, 18-21) to the Trojan tandem of Megan Kraft and Laynie Maple on court one.

The Trojans tied the dual at 2-2 when Delaney Karl and Gabby Walker outlasted Whitmarsh and Monserez in three sets, 21-18, 11-21, 15-10.

USC's Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse sealed the Trojans' win on court three with a come-from-behind win over Brennan and Tessa Van Winkle, 15-21, 24-22, 17-15.

The Bruins return to action next week when they host the Battle for LA on Mar. 11-12 at Mapes Beach. UCLA will open with Cal Poly at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 11.
