
UCLA Earns No. 2 Seed, Will Host Ninth Straight NCAA Regionals

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA softball team was selected as the No. 2 national seed for the NCAA Tournament and will host Regionals at Easton Stadium for the night straight season.
The Bruins (52-5, 21-3) are making their tournament-record 38th appearance. Competing against UCLA in the Los Angeles Regional are Liberty (2), San Diego State (3) and Grand Canyon (4).
The first matchup for the Bruins will be on Friday, May 19 against Grand Canyon at 5 p.m. (PT) on ESPN+. All games will be available for viewing on the ESPN Family of Networks.
UCLA owns a 233-64 (.785) NCAA postseason record dating back to 1982. The Shelly Carlin UCLA Head Softball Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez owns an 80-30 postseason record across her previous 16 seasons. She has never missed the postseason.

UCLA's 21 conference wins are its most in a season since 1999. For just the second time in the last 20 years (2021), UCLA took the season series against every Pac-12 opponent.
The Bruins are led by a pair of USA Softball Player of the Year Top 10 Finalists in Maya Brady and Megan Faraimo as well as a pair of NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 10 Finalists in Jordan Woolery and Megan Grant. Inouye-Perez picked up the third Pac-12 Coach of the Year of her career, tying her predecessor and fellow UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer Sue Enquist's mark.
Brady, the conference batting champion with a .456 mark in the regular season, was honored as the 2023 Pac-12 Player of the Year. Faraimo earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year plaudits for the second consecutive season, becoming the first Bruin to accomplish that feat. Woolery was also honored as the 2023 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, becoming the ninth Bruin to win that award.
