LOS ANGELES – Junior Cheridyn Leverette of UCLA Women's Volleyball has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions held between Aug. 27-Sept. 2.
The outside hitter played a pivotal role in UCLA's flawless 2-0 start, delivering double-digit kills in both matches for the Bruins. Leverette was remarkably efficient, achieving a hitting percentage of .386 with 20 kills over the opening weekend. Despite an early injury scare in the match against No. 14 Georgia Tech, the Hampton, Ga. native made a heroic return and put down a critical kill in the decisive fifth set versus the Yellow Jackets. Additionally, Leverette contributed significantly on the defensive end with eight digs and one block.
Leverette secures her first-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
