SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. โ€” The No. 2 UCLA women's basketball team fell in overtime to No. 16 Utah, 94-81 in a Pac-12 contest at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City on Monday evening.

With the Bruins trailing by one, 70-69, with 1:21 remaining in regulation, Lina Sontag got her hand on a pass that was meant for Utah's Alissa Pili down low, and the ball found its way to Charisma Osborne. Osborne pushed the ball up the court before finding Camryn Brown, who made a layup to give the Bruins a 71-70 lead with 54 seconds to play. The Bruins made 1-of-2 from the line on their next possession to take a 72-70 lead before Utah answered a bucket with 3.4 seconds to go to tie the game at 72-72 and send the game to overtime.

In the overtime period, the Utes took an eight-point lead, 86-78, with 1:07 to go. On UCLA's next possession, Londynn Jones hit a 3-pointer to make it a five-point Utah lead, but that was as close as the Bruins would come in the closing stages, and Utah earned the 94-81 win in overtime.

Four Bruins finished in double figures on Monday night. Gabriela Jaquez paced UCLA (15-2, 4-2 Pac-12) with 21 points, Kiki Rice added 16, Osborne had 14 points, and Angela Dugalić finished with 10 points. Kennady McQueen led Utah (14-5, 4-3 Pac-12) with 21 points.ย

The Bruins struggled to score in the first quarter, shooting just 6-for-15 from the field, and Utah took a 22-16 lead to end the first quarter. Dugalić started the game 3-for-3 from the field, helping the Bruins keep pace with the Utes in the opening minutes.

Osborne gave UCLA its first lead of the game with 4:01 to go in the second quarter. The Moreno Valley, California nailed a mid-range jumper to give the Bruins the lead, 28-26. Later on in the quarter, Jaquez crashed the boards on the offensive end with 3:11 left in the half, hauled in an offensive rebound, and put the ball back up and in to give UCLA a 302-9 lead. Unfortunately for the Bruins, the Utes closed the first half with two 3-pointers to take a 35-32 lead into the halftime break. ย

The two squads traded baskets to begin the third quarter before the Utes extended their lead to eight, 58-50, with 2:07 remaining in the quarter. Osborne and Jaquez then made a bucket each to cut the lead to four, 58-54. Utah answered with a quick 5-0 run of their own to take a 63-54 lead at the end of the quarter.

Rice cut through the lane and made a layup while drawing a foul to head to the line with 7:21 remaining in the fourth quarter, cutting Utah's lead to six, 65-58. She made the foul shot to make it a six-point contest.

With 2:02 to go in regulation, Jaquez cut UCLA's deficit to three, 70-67, when she made a deep three from directly in front of the Bruins bench. On the next possession, UCLA got a stop before Rice made a layup in transition to get the Bruins within one, 70-69. UCLA would go on to take the lead on their next possession before the Utes tied things up in the final seconds of regulation. The Utes then earned the win in overtime, 94-81.
