Betts Named to John R. Wooden Award Late Season Top 20

LOS ANGELES – Sophomore Lauren Betts has been recognized as a late-season top 20 candidate for the John R. Wooden Award presented by Principal.
Betts is shooting a conference- and NCAA-leading .683 FG% through 17 games (1st, Pac-12; 1st, NCAA). The center has corralled 147 rebounds in her 17 appearances with the Bruins, averaging 8.6 rebounds per game this season (24.3 MPG). The center ranks 6th in the Conference in RPG and has recorded eight double-doubles on the year.
The Pac-12 leads all conferences with five selections on the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20, followed by the ACC and SEC with four each, the Big 10 with three selections, and the Big East and Big 12 with two selections each.

The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Nearly 1,000 voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games. The Wooden Award All American Team™ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2024 John R. Wooden Award will be presented by Principal following the NCAA Tournament in April.
