No. 2 UCLA Takes Down Oregon, 75-49

January 05, 2024 | Women's Basketball

LOS ANGELES –The No. 2 UCLA women's basketball team took down Oregon 75-49 on Friday evening at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.

Angela Dugalić led the Bruins (13-0, 2-0 Pac-12) with 17 points and nine rebounds, while two other Bruins finished with double-doubles. Lauren Betts had 13 points and 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the year, while Kiki Rice tallied 11 points and 10 assists in the contest.

The Bruins crashed the offensive glass early as part of a 6-0 run to begin the game. Betts and Dugalić combined for five offensive rebounds in the opening four minutes. Those early boards lead to four second-chance points.

UCLA finished the quarter in style, courtesy of Rice. With six seconds remaining in the quarter, the sophomore brought the ball up the court before drilling a mid-range jumper as time expired, giving UCLA a 13-4 lead. Six different Bruins contributed as UCLA scored 24 points in the second quarter to take a 37-17 lead into the halftime break. Led by Rice and Londynn Jones, who both nailed a pair of 3-pointers apiece, UCLA outscored the Ducks 24-13 in the quarter and closed the half by making five of their last seven baskets.

For the half, two Bruins finished in double figures. Betts led the way with a first-half double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Rice added 10 points, four assists, and three rebounds.

Dugalić kept her foot on the gas for UCLA in the third quarter. The senior was 4-of-6 from the field in the quarter and also added two foul shots for a team-high six points in the quarter. Her three-pointer with 45 seconds left in the quarter gave the Bruins a then game-high 27-point lead, 61-34.

Lina Sontag put the Bruins up 30, 64-34, with a corner triple to start the fourth, and the Bruins cruised from there.  UCLA managed the game from there and earned the 75-49 win on Friday night.
