Nelson, Ratoviz Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

LOS ANGELES – Wyatt Nelson and Tamir Ratoviz of the No. 19 UCLA men's soccer team have been named the Big Ten Conference Men's Soccer goalkeeper of the week and freshman of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Wyatt Nelson gave up just one goal over two games as UCLA went on the road to beat Rutgers 3-0 on Friday night, and tied with No. 6 Maryland 1-1 on Monday night.
The sophomore made a career-high eight saves and kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Rutgers, before making two saves in the 1-1 draw with No. 6 Maryland. This is the second-consecutive Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week honors for Nelson, and the second weekly conference honor of his career.
For the season, Nelson has made eight starts and has a goals-against average of 1.12. UCLA is 3-2-3 () with Nelson between the posts in 2024.
Tamir Ratoviz played 64 minutes off the bench over two games as UCLA went on the road to beat Rutgers 3-0, and tie with No. 6 Maryland 1-1.
Ratoviz, a Los Angeles native, played 39 minutes of action off the bench and scored the game-tying goal in the 1-1 draw at No. 6 Maryland, the second of the season for the freshman. Ratoviz, found the back of the net after some nice play on both wings by Nicholas Cavallo and Philip Naef. Cavallo picked a cross-field ball to Naef, who hit it first time on the ground towards Ratoviz. The LAFC product took a touch to gather the ball before slotting his shot past the Maryland keeper, tying the game at 1-1.
For the year, Ratoviz has two goals over 13 appearances. His first came in UCLA's 2-0 win over No. 8 Portland on August 30th.
This is the first weekly conference honors of his career for Ratoviz.
