Garbers Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

October 23, 2024 | Football

LOS ANGELES – Redshirt senior Ethan Garbers of UCLA Football has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions completed between Oct. 15-21.

The quarterback led UCLA to its first-ever Big Ten win on Saturday at Rutgers with his best statistical performance as a Bruin, posting career-highs in passing yards (383) and touchdowns (4) while recording the fifth-highest completion percentage by a Bruin QB since 1980 (32-38, 84%). Garbers also had a 49-yard rushing touchdown, giving him five total touchdowns on the day. With that scramble down the sideline, he recorded the longest run of his career; Garbers also connected on a 67-yard touchdown reception to Keegan Jones, marking the longest pass of his career. He is one of just two Bruins since 1980 to have 30+ completions and an 80+ percent completion percentage in the same game (Dorian Thompson-Robinson). With Garbers at the helm, UCLA posted season highs in points (35) and total offense (478 yards) against the Scarlet Knights.

Garbers secures his second-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
