Women’s Golf Finishes T-4th at Women’s Illini Invitational

MEDINAH, Ill. – The No. 5-ranked UCLA women's golf team shot a -5, 283 in the final round of the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah Country Club to finish T-4th (-19, 845) on Tuesday.
Ole Miss won the team title with a final score of -30.
Senior Zoe Antoinette Campos finished in a tie for seventh (-8; 69-66-73) after shooting +1, 73 in the third round. The placement marked her first top-10 of the season and 19th of her career. Campos' two rounds under par on Monday moved her into sole possession of fifth on UCLA's career under par rounds list with 42.
Tiffany Le continued her brilliance from the second round on Monday afternoon with another -5, 67 on Tuesday. Le recorded six birdies and went bogey free on the back nine in her final round.
Caroline Canales was UCLA's other top-20 finisher, tying for 17th at -4. Canales shot an even par 72 in her final round.
Freshman Francesca Fiorellini recorded her second-straight -1, 71 to close out the tournament tied for 34th (-1).
The Bruins are back in action in 10 days to compete at the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 18-20).

Bruins in Striking Distance for Final Round at Medinah

The Bruins (-14, 4th) paced the 15-team field at the Illini Women's Invitational hosted at Medinah Country Club with a -15, 273 in the second round on Monday.
UCLA is six strokes back of first-place Houston (-20) heading into Tuesday's final round. Senior Zoe Antoinette Campos is in the mix for her first medal of the season thanks to rounds of 69-66 to put her at -9 for the tournament. She trails clubhouse leader Lexanne Halama from Illinois (-10).
UCLA's team score of -15, 273 in the second round this afternoon is tied for the seventh-lowest 18-hole score in program history.
Campos started the day with a -3, 69 in round one, featuring four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 4th. The Valencia, Calif. product improved her game in the afternoon with seven more birdies and just one bogey on the par-4 11th for a season-best -6, 66.
Campos birdied or eagled on seven of eight par-5s for the day.
Joining Campos in the top 20 with two under-par scores of her own is senior Caroline Canales, who is tied for 13th at -4 (71-69). Canales jumped out of the gate hot in her second round. Starting on the par-4 5th, Canales birdied three of her first five holes.
Tiffany Le recorded the second-best 18-hole score of her career in round two with a -5, 67 in round two. Le had a string of three consecutive birdies on holes 16-18, two of which came on par-5s.
Freshman Francesca Fiorellini sits in a tie for 34th at even par (73-71) through two rounds at Medinah. The Italian scattered six birdies over her first 36 holes.
Natalie Vo, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 21st at -2 (72-70).
