UCLA's Ereño, Morales Selected to Haskins Award Watch List
November 12, 2024 | Men's Golf
UCLA seniors Pablo Ereño and Omar Morales have been named to the Haskins Award 2024-25 Final Fall Watch List, annually presented to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer, as voted on by college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media.
Morales had been listed to the early September edition of the watch list. Ereño, who secured his first collegiate medal at The Tindall on Sept. 23-24, has been added to the award's final fall watch list.
Ereño and Morales have been moved into the top 10 slots in the PGA TOUR University Rankings, with Morales at No. 5 and Ereño at No. 10.
Morales concluded the Bruins' four fall competitions with three top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish (tie) at The Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. (from Oct. 18-20). He shot 7-under 209 with round scores of 67-71-71 to record his best finish of the fall season. Morales recorded eight rounds under par and four rounds in the 60s in the Bruins' four fall tournaments.
Ereño had a very strong fall season for the Bruins, earning a co-championship at The Tindall on Sept. 23-24. He finished that tournament at 11-under 202 with round scores of 65-70-66. He totaled seven rounds in the 60s and had eight rounds under par through UCLA's four tournaments.
The UCLA men's golf program has produced two previous Haskins Award winners, since the award's inception in 1971. Kevin Chappell won the Haskins Award in 2008, while Patrick Cantlay earned the prestigious honor in 2011.
The Bruins will resume their 2024-25 golf season in late January of 2025, competing in the Southwestern Invitational at Sherwood Country Club in nearby Thousand Oaks, Calif. Dates of the Southwestern Invitational are scheduled for Jan. 27-29, 2025.
