Bruins Finish with Seven Podium Finishes at the Texas A&M Charlie Thomas Invitational

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA Track and Field team capped off competition at the Texas A&M Charlie Thomas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, on Saturday evening. The Bruins secured seven podium finishes in the men's shot put, the women's high jump, the women's pole vault, the women's triple jump, the women's 60m hurdles, and the men's and women's 4x400m relay races. This included an event victory in the women's 60m hurdles event.

UCLA also had four additional top-10 finishes in the meet, recording a top-five finish in the men's 200m.

FIELD RESULTS
Senior Aidan Elbettar began the day for the Bruins with a podium finish, throwing 16.92m (55-06.25) to take home bronze.

Graduate student Julia Jordahl-Henry lept a season-best 1.68m (5-06.00) in the women's high jump to place third overall.
ย
Senior Ka'Leila Abrille soared to a second-place finish in the women's pole vault, recording a mark of 4.36m (14-03.50). A season-best, she moves into the third spot on UCLA's Indoor All-Time Top-10 list for the event, passing Allison Koressel (14-01.25, March 8, 2013). Abrille also passes her own previous all-time Top-10 fourth-place mark, achieved last week at the New Mexico Team Open. Senior Katerina Adamiec and sophomore Allison Leigh took home top-10 finishes in the event, placing sixth and eighth respectively.

Graduate student Asha Fletcher took home third in the women's triple jump, recording a mark of 12.11m (39-08.75). This is the second consecutive week for Fletcher on the podium, placing second last week at the New Mexico Team Open.

TRACK RESULTS
Juniors Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck and Sonia Virk respectively took seventh and eighth place overall in the women's 60m hurdles preliminaries to qualify for the finals. Ndjip-Nyemeck ran an 8.19 to secure an event victory in the final round. On the men's side, freshman Davis Davis-Lyric qualified for the finals after placing fourth in the preliminary round with a season-best mark of 8.14.

Sophomore John Robinson IV ran a 21.15 in the men's 200m race to secure a top-five finish.

Graduate student Sam Herenton placed 10th overall in the men's 400m (48.59).

Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams yielded third place overall finishes in their respective races, as well as spots on UCLA's Indoor All-Time Top 10 list.

On the men's side, the squad of graduate students Myles Misener-Daley, Cameron Reynolds, Ismail Turner, and freshman Gabriel Clement II ran a 3:07.37 to beat UCLA's time last week at the New Mexico Team Open (3:07.53) to claim the fifth-fastest record in UCLA history.

The team of junior Aly Conyers, senior Kate Jendrezak, Kaylen Fletcher, and sophomore Naomi Johnson (3:33.13) passed the mark of 3:33.24 achieved on March 15, 2003 to claim the fourth-fastest indoor time of all-time on the women's side.

UCLA will head to Boston, Mass. to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center and the Boston College Eagle Elite, hosted by Boston College at the Track at New Balance.

The team will also head to Seattle, Wash. to compete in the Husky Invitational hosted by the University of Washington at Dempsey Indoor and to Albuquerque, N.M., to take part in the Don Kirby Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
