No. 13 Women's Tennis Topped by No. 12 Ohio State on Road

COLUMBUS, Ohio โ Playing away from home for the fourth consecutive match, the 13th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team came out on the wrong end of a 4-0 result against No. 12 Ohio State at Ty Tucker Tennis Center Sunday.
Ahmani Guichard and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer teamed to pick up a doubles win for the Bruins (2-3), who nearly added a singles victory from Kimmi Hance before the decision was clinched. Shelly Bereznyak sealed the win for the Buckeyes (5-1), following triumphant singles efforts by Irina Cantos Siemers and Luciana Perry.
Guichard and Lutkemeyer of earned a break of serve out of the gate and rolled to a 6-1 victory against Bereznyak and Madeline Atway on Court 3 to start doubles play. The tandem of Guichard and Lutkemeyer has won all three of its contests in dual-match play and nine of 10 overall. Buckeyes Cantos Siemers and Audrey Spencer collected two of three straight breaks early in their match with Kimmi Hance and Sasha Vagramov on Court 2 and that proved to be the difference in a 6-3 result.
The deciding top-court matchup, like Court 2, had three total breaks that came consecutively. Perry and Sydni Ratliff of Ohio State earned them for 3-1 and 4-2 before holds the rest of the way gave them a 6-3 decision over Tian Fangran and Elise Wagle.
The Buckeyes collected four singles first sets. No. 85 Perry bested Biana Fernandez by a 6-2, 6-2 margin, making the score 2-0. Next off was the top court, where the 15th-ranked Cantos Siemers got the better of Tian in a 6-3, 6-3 result. Finally, Bereznyak held off Wagle for the 6-4, 6-2 decider.
UCLA's next match is Monday, Feb. 19, when it welcomes California to Los Angeles Tennis Center for a non-conference tilt.
