Men's Golf Concludes Day One at NCAA Stanford Regional

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Pablo Ereño shot a 2-under 68 in the first round of the NCAA Stanford Regional at Stanford Golf Course on Monday, posting a top-20 finish. The UCLA men's golf team finished in sixth place at 3-under (277) on the first day of action.
 
Ereño finished in a tie for 19th on the individual leaderboard, while junior Omar Morales and sophomore Kyle An both shot 1-under 69 in the first round, tied for 23rd on the day-one leaderboard.
 
Bruins' freshman Luke Powell fired a 1-over 71 on Monday, while graduate student Mason Green finished with a 4-over 74.
 
Ereño and An each totaled four birdies, and Morales registered a pair of birdies on the first day of action.
 
Through day one, Illinois stands in first place after finishing the afternoon with a team score of 17-under (263) at Stanford Golf Course.
 
UCLA has advanced to the NCAA Regional round for the first time since the 2018-19 season and are seeking its first berth to the NCAA Championships since 2017-18.
 
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams, through Wednesday's action, will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
 
The Bruins will return to action on the second of three consecutive days at Stanford Golf Course on Tuesday, May 14, at 9 a.m. PT. UCLA will open on the back nine holes on Tuesday morning.
